Alot depends on what the charge actually was. Most felonies the Marines do not accept. The Army accepts most felonies as long as it is only one.

Go talk to a recruiter, and be up front with him. Tell him about the trouble you've had, and your police record and conviction.
If you do well enough on the Armed Forces Aptitude Test, and if you are a minor, it might be worth while to get a lawyer and attempt to get your record expunged.
There is hope, but I don't think the Marines will take you. Times change, and a felony conviction does not seem to carry the heavy consequences it did when I was a youngster, but it will still haunt you.
Good Luck.

You cannot join the military while on active probation. Once you successfully complete probation, you can talk to a recruiter and see if they'll issue a waiver, or if you will have to get the charge dropped to a misdemeanor and expunged.. And find out if they'll even accept it then.
My best advice? Do everything you're supposed to do for probation, and Don't do what you're NOT supposed to do... pay off all your fines and fees, finish up all the classes, and test clean EVERY time... and then ask the court to drop the charge to a misdemeanor and terminate probation early. If you do all that and walk into Court with your recruiter, the judge may just go for it!
Of course.. part of it depends on what kind of felony you committed. Some are not eligible for waiver... even if they're misdemeanors.

I'm not a recruiter but I would guess that it depends on the felony. I had to get a waiver to join - they can waive ALMOST anything. Also, if a recruiter tells you no, try another one. Some are just lazy. If you can join at all then I'm sure you can go infantry; I did with my waiver.
Good luck! Maybe you'll be in my unit (2/1) someday.

I think the army would take you, I think. I thought I read somewhere that if you have a felony on your record, they'll still take you, and infantry is the perfect place for you

It kind of depends on what your felony was and what the current rule on felonies are (they change frequently depending on the needs of military personnel) However, u will have to have a wiaver approved.

Since they can't issue a weapon to a felon, no, not while you have the felony on your record.
The recruiter can tell you how to get it off your record, if possible and if they are willing to take you in the service.

You have to get it removed from your record. Depending on what it is, sometimes judges will remove it if you tell them you want to serve your country.
