Well it seems the runes have opened up to me, but I have been studying Tarot cards for alot longer, but I always seem to be turning to my runes. I feel more comfortable when I hold them, but I don't know all their meanings yet, like I do with the Tarot. I am a bit perplexed and I was wondering if anyone else has ever experinced the same thing.
Should I stop using my Tarot cards, or is there a reason for this?

Runes are cool but I prefer tarot. I have been reading tarot for so long, that now I don't even need the cards to give a reading. I read their aura and it has much more information then the cards.

Thanks for asking

My mom was the same when I was 13. She didn't want me involved in any of that. That being said, once she let me go shopping on my own in Chapters, haha. There, I bought my first deck -- Celestial Tarot. Chapters does have some nice ones, if you're willing to go with something different than what you've chosen online. It's best to look at a few Tarot decks and decide which one resonates best with you, not like I did with the Celestial Tarot. It took me 6 years to finally be able to work with them on their level! As for the runes, look them up online and make your own set. That's the best way to align them with your Source. But really, why don't you just look up the metaphysical shops in your area? They'll have better selection than Chapters, and people there who will be better prepared to help you choose your first deck. And they'll take your debit card. Why don't you ask an older friend/relative to take you shopping?

Who is to say why you are drawn to one form of divination over another, or if you are drawn to more than one form. I wouldn't worry if you don't fully know the meaning of all the Futhark (runes) yet, give it time, understanding will come to you. If you are really comfortable with the Tarot then continue to use them as well. There is nothing saying you cannot master both forms. I have always been drawn to the Futhark (runes) and continue to learn about them but lately I have started learning about the Celtic Tree Ogham. I would someday like to master both of them as it only increases my skills.

By the way, I have given a link to my favorite website for the Futhark (runes), I hope it helps you to explore them and understand them more.

if the runes are speaking to you then use them.
in rare cases tarot and runes will speak to the same person. if this is the case use both. but if you only use the tarot because you know everything that the little book says, then put them down and use the runes...and throw that book away. the runes will tell you what they mean.

I'm the other way around. I started with runes, but have switched over to the Tarot because it felt more natural. I think you should go with whatever you're more comfortable with.

Have you ever tried to hold Tarot cards, as a deck, or individual card? Then think about the meaning, following several books? Then looking into the individual card and trying to interpret it for yourself?
Plenty of ideas how you could enhance your connection with the cards.
If runes seem to work more natural to you, maybe focus on them long enough to understand the meaning of each one and on various casting methods.....
Good luck :)

Well if you feel the runes are calling to you...for sure look into them! Keep on using your tarot too though, you could use them as a guide to working with your runes!

i too have been drawn to runes - i bought a set of runes on stones some years ago, then made me own set with pebbles from the river, and i have been bought a set made from tiny amethysts engraved with each symbol.
so i feel that they are the tool for me!
i am beginning to get to grips with them now, and becoming more intuitive in my readings.
i enjoy them. and as mentioned above, as i am celtic, i am also learning about the celtic tree ogham - beautiful! i am contemplating making my own.

perhaps you are being guided to runes or a specific reason - either let the tarot pack rest awhile, or use them to help you interpret each other.

good luck,and have fun!

blessed be

I have tried working with the runes, but I do not get as good of results with them.

But that is ME. If you are drawn more to the Runes, use what calls to you, but continue your studies of the Tarot......

I feel the same way. I still use Tarot cards, but not as often. I don't feel as comfortable with them.
