That happened to my cat. Take them to a vet as soon as possible!!! They have to get on medication and have the proper food. Purina one Urinary Tract Health is what I use for my cat. The vet will try and sell ya some food but they usually want double the price. But definitely get it to a vet. When I took my cat to the vet he said that some other lady waited too long and her cat had to be put to sleep. Food was the factor for him having it too. Good luck!!!

If one of you cats is a male and it has been Neutered and you are feeding it canned cat food ,Yes it will get UTI. The Ash content in the cat food is whats causeing the UTI in male cats. I had a male cat long ago and the Vet told me it was the Ash that was causeing the UTI in my cat that I had. I had to make sure that it was below 3.0 and that was hard to find so I changed the cat food to dry cat food and he got better from it. The cat I have now she does not get wet food at all.

You are right, males tend to have more UTI problems with an all dry food diet. Canned or raw is the best - dry is for our convience. Most people feed both the dry and canned, as canned can get expensive if you have more then one cat. And if you have to leave them for a weekend, dry helps so you can leave it for them to eat till you come home. Many people (and vets) are under the impression that dry keeps teeth cleaner - it doesn't. Think about it - does eating a pretzel keep your teeth clean? The cat just breaks up the food and swallows it - the food doesn't scrape against the teeth to clean anything!

It is very likely that the food you feed them is the culprit. As others have stated, get them to a vet as soon as you can. UTI can be deadly. Even if you are feeding a really high quality food with low ash and high moisture, they still need to see the vet. good luck

Yes it can. Cats that get FUS, or Feline Urological Syndrome, have a sensitivity to the ash in dry foods. My advice would be to take you cat to the vet. He can do a urine sample to test the ash level, and advise you if a special diet is needed.

Absolutely! My cat has been on special food for years because she is so sensitive. Get her in to the vet right away!

Yes, too much salt can do this, also some brands of cat food. You should probably consult your vet.
