There are several areas of research that can consclusively show that religious experience and communion with "higher powers" can now be attributed to purely biological function and biochemistry.

"According to this hypothesis, the God gene (VMAT2), is not an encoding for the belief in God itself but a physiological arrangement that produces the sensations associated, by some, with the presence of God or other mystic experiences, or more specifically spirituality as a state of mind."

The real science behind the "god Gene' can be found in the Journal Science and Scientific American. I utilized the Wikipedia source since it does not require a paid subscription to view, Which I have both. The Wiki article is acurate to the reporting in these sources.

the god gene could just as well account for the feelings of awe in the universe experienced by some atheists .

Did the VMAT2 gene give Jesus the power to heal the blind, cure leprosy, and walk on water? Is that what made it possible for Him to rise from the dead?? Is that the gene which made it possible for the Apostles to believe what they witnessed with their own eyes?

I was convinced of the truth of Christianity by the evidence, not by a feeling. By the way, wikipedia is a horrible reference. Got anything better?

So, is there an Opera gene? or a Heavy Metal gene?

Seems to be a gene that hleps some detect spiritual occurences, like there are genes that help detect sound or sight.

Science is great. The harder some scientists try to disprove God, the more evidence they bring to light proving His existence.

ok. u got this from wikipedia! maybe this is true, maybe not. depends on the author of the definition. In the popular words of the atheists, "can u show me real solid proof?"

even If this is true....then I am glad I have the "God gene"! God is real. that's all I need. I have my proof... I'll pray for those of u who are still searching.
God bless u.

As free-thinkers, we must be open to accept any possibility - including the possibility that this particular gene is from God.

I do not believe this, personally, but I'm sure there are many who would upon reading this material.

I think they don't know as much as they think they do. I mean even God, gods, or whatever have to communicate with us somehow. How better than through the unifying forces of nature?
