Christians claim God didn't murder anyone, he just *killed* them.

If he murdered them he would be by far the biggest sinner that ever existed. But apparently he hasn't *murdered* anyone, he only *killed* them which I guess is totally OK.

But are Christians just desperately playing word games and semantics to get around the fact that God is biggest murderer in the history of eternity (If the bible is true like they say)?

I anticipate someone might say "murder is wrong, killing is justifiable".

How is killing everything on Earth justifiable?

The difference some Believers make between 'killing' and 'murdering' is to rationalize violating the Fifth Commandment (Thou shallt not kill.)

In other words, aborting a baby is murder, but sending somebody to the electric chair is killing. If the Hebrews commit genocide against the Philistines, that's killing; however, if a Philistine kills a Jew in self-defense, that's murder. According to the Catholic Church, masturbation is murder, but Torquemada torturing a heretic to death is merely killing.

Shooting your neighbor is murder; however, if you first declare war on your neighbor, then shooting your neighbor is merely killing. It helps if you have the Divine Right of Kings or if your declaration of war meets St. Augustine's definition of a 'just war'--apparently some folks have the mojo to overturn the Fifth Commandment.

Yes, I know it's batshit crazy, but you gotta love those crazy True Believers--if you don't they'll righteously kill you...

Murder is unlawful killing. The definition of "murder" is determined by the law - it denotes what Americans call 'culpable homicide'. It is a legal category, not a moral one. Murder is usually morally objectionable, but many forms of killing that are not murder are - in my view - also morally objectionable. Just because killing in war is not murder, this does not mean that it is morally neutral.

Nothing. And it is Thou shalt not kill, no matter how many times they change it to get around hunting, war and capital punishment.
