Wot after changing the locks after the Rotter Ex left??

There's many cleansing ritules that will help. A simple one is leave 4 eggs at the 4 corners of your house for a month then burying them. Others involving smugging, sweeping - there's a tone out there.

Weeellll - a good housecleaning top to bottom, accompanied by loud, upbeat music - some Gwydion or older pagan music like that. Sing along! Pick a bright, sunny, breezy day. While cleaning, hunt down the source of negativity. Order it loudly and firmly from the house.

When the physical cleaning is done, I would cense each room with frankincense, the best energy-purifier there is. Leave the front door and the windows open (as long as the cats and/or kids don't get out - maybe enlist the help of a door-watcher), start at the back of the house, and cense each room heavily, moving toward the front door, visualizing the negativity being shooed in front of you. Out the door with it!

I've done then when moving into somewhere new before, to get rid of any negative crap from previous tenants. Works for me!

Merry Meet Everyone, As the definitions are know today: All Wiccans ARE Witches. All Witches are not necessarily Wiccan, and all Wiccans/Witches are Pagan, but Pagans are not necessarily Wiccans or Witches. In Light and Love, Alawnduin

Usually when I feel negative energy in my house, I know I need to clean it. I scrub it from top to bottom with lavender cleaners, natural products, and good old fashioned scrubbing. It takes hours bc I have a big house. Then, I sit quietly, light some candles and some patchouli incense, but on some quiet and gentle music, and focus on how I feel then. Usually I feel somewhat better, and if I still fell the negativity, by then I am so tired that it is easy for me to let my mind drift not how my relationships with family and friends are, bc that is the usual source of negativity. I figure out what my part has been in contributing to any bad feelings, and I make a plan of action for apologizing for whatever wrong I have done, cleaning up my side of the street, as they say, and once that is done, the spirits of negativity are gone.

Heathen practices for this are threefold: landtaking, wight gifting, and folk charms.

In landtaking, one walks the boundaries of a property, and/or the inner walls of the stead, with fire---torch, candle, etc. As an apt. dweller, I made three rounds when I moved into my present home---the first asking Thor to ward and protect, the second asking Frigga to weave a web of frith within, and the third asking Freyr to prosper my stay.

We believe very strongly in maintaining what I call the "Web of Right Relationships" through gifting, and one strand of that Web is with the spirits of place we call "hearth wights" . . . huldufolk, little people, what have you. It's been my experience that bad energy in a home can often be the result of neglected or unhappy wights, so I make daily offerings of honeyed coffee, weekly offerings of grain and butter, share a little of the blot mead before rituals, keep the apt. clean and tidy, and keep several small bowls of beads and coins around. (keeps them away from my car keys, lol). Once the relationship is established, it becomes their job to ward the stead and create welcoming energy within it.

Folk charms can be as simple as a horseshoe or forged iron Mjolnir above the door, or as elaborate as axe heads buried at the four corners of the property, or a viper in a sealed jar buried under the front step. It really just depends on what's needed.

I always find out what I'm dealing with before I do anything. Once I know, I deal with singles, or multiples individually.

Then I smudge, if necessary and reset the various 'alarms'.

I only smudge when something I don't want is hanging around. Smudging with sage is a bit like taking a broad-spectrum antibiotic. It gets the friendly flora along with what you're after.

Sometimes it's necessary, but things generally have to be pretty bad and needing a thorough purging before I'll do sage.

i assume that you ask this to promote knowlege shareing for others, so i will answer in some detail.

I am a Celtic Pagan, and protection and cleansing are some of my strong points. i will assume that we are dealing with a bad energy/ entity.

this would require a Banishing and a cleansing ritual, followed by a protection or blessing.

first i start by placeing a spirit line (useing charged corn meal)
around the house. preventing anything from leaving and comming back later.

then i would send my warriors (others that i trust to cleanse and protect the home) out to sage and do a ritual of cleansing, starting from the basement and working to the attic, saying a prayer over each window and doorway. and each mirror. (supersticion, i just do not like reflective surfaces)

as they do this any negative entities will be forced up to the attic, and me. at this point i offer them the chance to leave peacfully and agree to never come back. most refuse, and end up banished. ( i will not go into much detail on that, simply because it is dangerous. )

after the attic is cleansed and protected by my warriors. we all go from the top of the home to the bottom asking for blessings from various gods/goddesses. and invite positive Fey to inhabit the home and to protect it. we then go outside and ewave the protections inside the home with the spirit line outside the home.

at the end of the ritual, (if it is my home it is over) but if it is the home of a friend/relative. i walk through the home with the home-owner, while they say in every room. " this is my home and i will not premit any negative energy or entities to remain here" this is more for their own assurances, and to give them a sense of conrtol. but it is good to affirm that it is YOUR home and that YOU are in Conrtol.

Clean the house... sweep all corners. People use different things for cleaning. I do not suggest using any type of bleach or ammonia... I tend to stay away from most chemical cleaners anyway. Then smudge. A friend of mine ends hers with a ritual of cleansing as well, just to seal it all up. Scott Cunningham's book Magical Household has several good ideas on how to do deal with such things.

First, find the source of the negative energy and remove it if you can.

Secondly, smudge and smudge some more. Smudging is great for banishments.

Thirdly, weather permitting, open some windows and let fresh air in.

Fourth, use your besom (broom) and sweep space around your home towards and out the front door.

and Lastly, light some incense for purification and positive energy.

A nice simple 3 component cleansing. Sweep from top to bottom and back to front. (Sweep all the bad out) In a bucket of warm water mix salt, camphor, pine. Wipe all the baseboards & windowsills, again, top to bottom, back to front. (Mop if I had hard floors.) Then burn sage & bless the house.

Fortunately, I've never had a bad problem, I run a happy house :) But I do it every so often anyway.
