This is a 2 faceted question Lewis. In lieu of being labeled 'sexist', I'll put this in its proper perspective. Now, if you're a man, you just use your brain ; if you're female, most likely the kindest gesture would be not to talk at all. I'm certain many will agree.

Compliments are best given when they are kept simple and come from your heart...you just got to say it like it is. Always remember, it is not what you say, but how you say it. I have a particularly great colleague at work, and she has always been so nice to me. I simply said to her: "I have to say: you are a good person, I like you!" They were simple words said from the heart...I could see that she was touched by what I said. We all love to be liked, and I think that if you tell someone that, it makes an impact.

Well, you can say, "Oh, I love hearing you laugh!" That kind of gets some people, but It is a fabulous comment especially if you do love that person's laugh! It also makes you look like a nice person for caring that they were laughing and having fun.

I went back to my high school and told a teacher who made a big diff in my life " i just wanted to let you know that you made a big diff in my life. You never gave up on me and cheered me on when i needed it the most and was hard on me when i needed it. you made me want to become a teacher" she cried and i cried.
