If God gave you a choice, to go to hell in place of a loved one, would you?

A certain person, if he was in such a place, yes in a heart beat.

It is rather sad the ones that say they would not save a loved one...aka someone they LOVE... Maybe such a selfless act would save both of them??

I've thought about this in depth before. It depends on one thing: If I don't go to hell, will they have a chance to repent and get out of hell sometime in the future? If they can, I wouldn't because I can help them more with my Father in Heaven than away from Him.

If they can't ever leave then I would because I wouldn't be able to do anything else for them.

I feel that hell is spoken of in two ways: the hell that occurs bettween death and the resurection AND the hell that is eternal which refers to being seperated from God forever. Both are brought about by the person's own choice. The first one comes when one realizes the true nature of their sins. The second can only come if one will not repent and rebels eternally against a God. They fight Him even in His presence. These are beyond repentance and, therefore, have chosen to leave God forever. Heavenly Father does not punish people in these ways, the punishment is a natural result of the wrong doing.

Of course, this is just a question in thought because we cannot choose to do this. The only way a person can avoid "hell" is by leaving sin behind. Only through Christ can this be accomplished. He provided the powerful Atonement to help us overcome our imperfections and to cleanse us from those sins which we do fall to. Nothing could happen without the Atonement of Jesus Christ. He died for us and, literally, not one of us could have done that. I know I'll never be able to repay Him for that, but, He didn't do it for Himself, He did it for us completelly selflessly.

No you can't - you are just as guilty. A guilty one cannot takes the place of another condemned one.
Now you can understand better why God must come in the Flesh as Man to die for us. The Sinless dying and taming the place of the sinful. Hell cannot even hold Him as He don't belong there. Hell cannot lay claimed on the Sinless but only the sinful. Now you believes ! There is no other way back to God except Jesus ! The Saviour and Lord of the World.

Never! The choice is our own choosing. Why burn in a lake of fire when God offers a street of gold. Not worth to take the place for someone elses' choice. I love God! not the devil.

Hell [ Hades] is simply our grave, at the cemetary or in the sea [ as a seaman].
When death is done away with, so will Hell/Hades.
(Revelation 20:14) And death and Ha′des were hurled into the lake of fire. This means the second death, the lake of fire.

(Revelation 21:4) And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away.”

Anyone that goes to hell goes there by choice. Why would I want to take the place of someone that chose to go there?

The bible states that there is no love greater than someone laying down their life for another.

Your question is completely moot, because it could never happen,

however, if this fantasy was possible then this statement above would fall into place, and because you laid down your life for another and made the greatest sacrifice one could make, then maybe God redeems you back into heaven....

Wait...maybe that was in the movie, "Bedazzled" with Brendon Fraiser?

Hell is a symbol it is not a real place.

Do not take what is written down literally or as the absolute truth, just cos its printed.

Mind you there is always hell on earth, if that is what you mean.

That's up to God not me. Don't try to tempt people to imagine themselves in the place of God.
