Yes absolutely, i worked in a restaurant that was always shorthanded. Well, it wasnt actually shorthanded there were plenty of people to work but they just didnt want to. Noone would ever get fired, you would have cooks taking 2 hour breaks, getting drunk on their breaks. Waitresses dissapearing to smoke for 20 mins and never wanting to do any sidework. The boss wanted control over everything but wouldnt do a thing to help. It was a sad situation that drove me crazy. I had to quit because I got pregnant and my boss would not let me trade out of working in smoking sections. Did a lot to help my blood pressure go down! If you are in a similar situation run away! It will be the best decision you ever make!

Yes, but I've also worked where a lot of people who possibly should not get fired DO-and thats why the turnover is high. I guess if you do your job the best you can, and be friendly but don't gossip, and pass your company's drug tests, etc. you will not get fired. AT MOST COMPANIES. If your job has a union, maybe that can be helpful, just make sure you get a copy of the company's policies, labor agreement, and be active in every union meeting you can, then maybe you won't get screwed. Just don't trust anyone to tell you how it works, get it all in writing or on paper!! Sad, but it's not how you do at work anymore, it's sometimes who you do/know. Oh-and P.S. If you get sick, have a Dr. note-but keep any details of illness or anything else not pertinent to work to yourself, though folks at work seem like friends-and they often are, the less people know-the less they have to say to the wrong person, the less to build strange rumors on, etc. If you have something to say about someone that you would be uncomfortable stating to that person's face-don't say it. I know it doesn't seem like it-but what goes around-eventually comes around. The good, the bad, the ugly! good luck.

Yes and I did a few things I have confronted the person with the horrible attitude that was trying to micromanage my coworkers and I and that calmed it down for awhile.
Then this person try to cause problems again trying to get very "technical" such as trying to give me and my coworkers who I went out to lunch with a scheduled lunch time purposely scheduling us at different times with the excuse that we needed someone to be in the office to pick up phones. While this same individual would sometimes take more than her hours lunches, go on extended 15 cigarrette breaks, run her errands during the day so I documented all of her mistakes and showed it to our boss and explained to him that I do not need to be micromanaged. I asked him has he had a compliant about my work if so to let me know. He said he didn't so I told him he needed to seriously talk to this person because she is bringing down employee morale and he did and she couldn't look me in the face without during red! lol!

Yes, I went about my work as always until I found a better position. It's no surprise the company went broke shortly afterward, business has a way of weeding out the stragglers.
