I'll name 7, the Deadly Sins. They can sneak up on you! Luxuria (extravagance, later lust), Gula (gluttony), Avaritia (greed), Acedia (sloth), Ira (wrath, more commonly known as anger), Invidia (envy), and Superbia (pride).
That's the classical reference. I think pride and laziness are the most predominant.

I do not see life as being full of hidden dangers that lead to defeat. Life is full of 'learning scenarios' chosen by us so that we can learn the lessons we have to learn before our spirit has to move on. I have to look at life in this way or I would have given up 8 years ago when my entire family was killed in a car crash or when I found out recently that I am in Stage 4 renal failure(with no cure). I still get up and am happy to be where I am now and know what I know. I think that it makes me a happier, more grateful wife, mother, and friend.

When you marry someone and they turn out to be an Alcoholic.
There is only two outcomes. The spouse gets help or the marriage is defeated. Love them or Leave them.
Don't enable them. Take defeat. You are powerless over an alcoholic because the booze becomes more important than anything. Take you power back and move on.

Why should I name any? Theres virtual signs of danger and defeat everywhere. Yes, some daners lead to defeat. Fight them - my motto.
