I'm trying to find a puppy breed that is cute, small, rounded snout not pointed, and dosn't shed to much. (preferably not a "bad dog" like a pitpull or rotwieller). I'd appreciate pictures but a name of the breed will do just fine. Thankyou for your suggestions.

I would stay away from a dog with wrinkles and long long hair. I saw some people suggested a pug (wrinkles) you will probably have very many health problems and vet bills. Someone else suggested a lhasa or a shih tzu, negative buddy both those dogs have long long hair (shed). A good dog that are very hard to find is the miniature greyhound (short hair, but long snout) And miniature doberman (not a mean dog) If you want something small. I can't think of anything else that goes with the description you are looking for. A miniature boxer would be a great dog...now if someone could just make one small...look online...i'm sure there's a breeder who has made a smaller size version of the boxer. Such a great dog! It would be everything you are looking for. Just a suggestion when you are picking out your puppy. Keep in mind to do some research, learn what the typical colors of the breed are. When you get into weird colors and different color eyes you are only looking for major health problems. Good Luck!

All breeded dogs cost alot and you should be prepared to pay for one.

It sounds like you would want a pug, with the rounded nose and all. I would have suggested a yorkie, as they are lovely dogs to have, they are easy to carry around and dont shed at all even though their hair grows constantly.

Yorkies though do have a bit of a point in the snout but not very pointed. They are the cutest dogs ever and if you own one, you will always want a yorkie. They are very intelligent, loyal, loving and enjoy having your attention. If you would like to know more on this breed and get to see for yourself how they look. Visit this website: The Yorshire Terrier - the free wikipedia encyclopedia

All the best and I hope you find what you looking for.

My first recommendation is to adopt a "pound puppy". Your local animal shelter probably has several mixed and purebreed puppies that would love to go home with you and make great pets. Usually there is someone at the shelter who is knowledgable about what type and size of dog that the puppies will grow into.
An excellent source of info about breeds is the American Kennel Club website. I am putting a link to a page that helps new dog owners pick out the right breed - there is a lot to consider besides just size and looks. You can access good photos of all the breeds recognized by the AKC from this page.

My suggestions based on your description are either a pug or Boston Terrier.

First off, pits and rotweillers are not all bad. We had a roti that was better behaved than our dachshunds.

Go to your local shelter. With millions of dogs euthanized each year, be responsible and stay away from pet shops and back yard breeders. If you have your heart set on a particular breed google a rescue group for that breed. You will find many dogs of any breed that people have "discarded" and would be grateful for your loving home.

poor you! you are getting inundated with such a variety of suggestions!

MY advice. Find a book on dog breeds you can leisurely look through.

Search the www akc.org or tons of other sites

Pay GREAT attention to the breed standards, and really think of what the breed was bred to do......that will give you a big heads up on general temperament and personalities.

and remember...it is NOT so much the looks of the dog, as the temperament...you need something to suit you.

If a first time dog owner, an "easy" breed would be best (or combo of ez breeds if a mix)...something that is more "willing" to look towards you for training.

I think there are more medium to large breeds that fit in this category.....

many "toy" breeds can be snippy and easily develop a "small dog complex".....have to be careful how you train them. I am REALLY tired of seeing so many of them trying to attack larger dogs

Most terriers tend to have a "terrorist" personality..can be aloof, pushy and hyper...though I see many rather cool Border Terriers

though the below don't necessarily fit into your physical description, thinking temperament and trainability...

Check out English Cockers..American Eskimos...Shetland Sheepdogs...Nova Scotia Duck Tollers...Australian Shepherd

Goldens, smooth Collie, Labs

While you are looking and studying breeds.....please, really do your research on dogs as dogs...how to care for them, how to train them...BEFORE you get one....so you don't end up like so many people who post here...totally ignorant and over their head with dealing with a pup.

Read posts..."how do I".....

Do NOT buy a puppy online! Go in person and see the pups, and buy the temperment that suits you

Hmmm...a cute, small, round snouted dog who doesn't shed much.....well...that description fits a cocker spaniel. Although, they do shed...it's not tons compared to my short haired miniature dachshund! Cocker are high maintenance, though and require regular grooming.

Another breed you could go with is a Bichon...cute, not a pointy nose and doesn't shed (however..needs lots of grooming and regular trips to a professional groomer)

How about a Lhasa Apso? They are a smaller breed, don't have a short nose like a shihtzu, and have long fluffy hair. (Again...another breed that is high maintenance in the grooming department)

I think anything that doesn't shed much will need lots of grooming and defiantly trips to the professional groomer.

Many of the terriers don't shed much.....one of my favorite terriers is a Dandie Dinmont Terrier....wonderful breed...doesn't shed, is smaller (average 25 lbs) and doesn't have a pointy nose. Other terriers that are good choices that fit your description are West Highland White Terriers, Scottish Terriers, Carin Terriers, Wire-haired Fox Terriers (although they don't have a pointy nose...it's a longer nose)

Go to AKC.com and look at the terrier group...they may be a good group of dogs to look into.

Good luck in your decision!

If you are looking for a dog, you not only need to consider what it looks like, but also temperament, activity level, ease of training etc. You say small - but how small? You say cute - but we have a very cute little pit bull girl in our rescue that I absolutely swoon over. So you need to think of other things and research them. Also, realize that puppies grow into dogs. Do you want a dog that is puppy like or do you not realize it won't stay a puppy forever?

You have a lot more to think about than just looks. Too many people get puppies (lizards, wild cats, bear cubs, squirrels, etc) because they think they were cute and didn't realize their all their needs.

You also need to think about money. How much do you want to pay? Rescue vs. buying from breeder? What diseases are they prone to? What is the vet care for a small pet compared to a large pet? Feeding? Toys? Destruction to personal belongings? Potty Training?

Lots to think about. Decide what you want in a dog, then go looking for a match.

Go to your nearest pet shelter first. Please. If the animals at the shelter don't get adopted in a timely manner they get put to sleep. Just look there first. If they don't have what your looking for go somewhere else. They are so much cheaper too. Normally around 100 bucks and they come with all their shots and are spayed or nutered already! Look there first. Oh I have an American Pitbull Terrier/Rotwiller mix. Furtherst thing from bad you can imagine. Trully. Don't belive the hype. Get to know the breed yourself before you make a decision. Don't let people think for you.

well, yorkies, mini schnauzers and mini poodles don't shed, and i don't think pugs shed much either (they don't have much of a nose though...lol) they are all little dogs, and all pretty cute. poodles are one of the smartest breeds. you can go to sites like Purina.com and probably find pictures, or look up any breed you want to know about on wikipedia. or yahoo images search for each breed. good luck with finding a breed just for you!
