"Society failing" is a matter of perspective, isn't it? I'm sure African Americans think society today is a huge improvement over society 50 years ago.

1. The Old and New kingdom dynasties of the Egyptian empire....
2. It faith had respect for ALL life, and people took the initative to care for one another. Unlike religions of modern day, they also held high respect for women and their roles as equals in the eyes of the Lord in heaven. You don't see that in the religions of today.

ya know, I can only trust the history books and use my perception of what I think was ideal

I think in a parallel universe somewhere out there on this earth there are people living their ideals, just unfortunately yourself or myself

there is no such thing. all societies, no matter how influential or powerful has its underside... rome had its aristocricacy and corruption, china had the same as well as england, russia, and so on. human nature is beyond far from ideal. human beings are horrible, self-absorbed, pieces of crap. they'd sooner stab you in the back than help you.

As a Christian, I don't think any generation has ever been ideal (maybe in hindsight it would appear so). I think the only difference is that now things are much more out in the open and uninhibited. People just kept things to themselves in the old days...I guess it must be technology and the easy access to all lifestyles and cultures...

Oh, I can't wait for someone to say the 1950's. "There were more two parent homes back then!"

Yeah, but abused wives couldn't leave their husbands, gay people feared for their lives, black people couldn't eat at the same restaurant as white people, KKK (often lead by law enforcement officers) hung and burned Black people and White civil rights workers...
