I know that this is crazy and paranoid, but honestly for some STRANGE reason it's a huge problem for me and just... PLAGUES me for some unknown reason. I'll try to explain myself... I live in a small town and I don't have a license so I take the bus to school and such. Say a bus stop has multiple buses with different routes stopping there, you're the only person at the stop, and the bus is approaching that you DON'T want to get on. But the bus stops because you're there, and say no one gets off there, I never know what to DO and I always feel rude because by no fault of my own, the bus driver has made a stop that's not necessary and I'm just sitting there... ! Is this understandable? And am I missing something? It just makes me feel paranoid like I should run away when the wrong bus is coming so I don't have to sit there and look stupid and rude haha. Sorry for being so weird.

In the town that I live in, the bus does not stop at a stop if no one inside pulls the cord and no one is at the stop.... just thought I would add that since that rules out what people are saying about the bus being required to stop.

When I'm in that situation, I just step back and wave my hand to signal the driver to keep moving.

In many communities the bus will stop at scheduled bus stops even if no one is at the stop.
The time to be there is set in the schedule, and a person may not be visible to the driver before they stop. After all the bus driver is suppose to be driving as hey pull up the stop not paying all there attention to who may be standing around the area of the bus stop.
Don't feel bad the bus can't get ahead of its schedule - of its bad for someone later on the route that is running the time tight to get to the bus stop, and the bus driver is doing there job. Just smile and brighten peoples day by being friendly and good natured.

It's not a crazy feeling. You're just very empathic and feel bad for inconveniencing someone else. That's a nice quality to have, and one that seems to be on the endangered list these days. It would be a better world if more people felt the way you do!

When you see the bus coming that is not the one you want, watch the bus driver. If he looks at you, you can shake your head to let him know that you don't want on. If he still stops, it's probably because they're required to (even if no one is there) or he's ahead of schedule anyway. Just say, "I'm waiting for bus number X" or even just wave him on. You don't have to walk away.

Also know that bus drivers get paid for driving the bus, regardless of how often they stop. It doesn't make a difference to their pay, and I doubt they get annoyed over making a stop they didn't need to make (they're probably very used to it). Try not to worry about it.

Or even think about it this way: You're doing a favor for the guy at the next stop that is running a minute late to catch his bus ;-)

There's no need to fret. Simply sit and ignore the stopped bus, as it is the bus driver's job to make sure to check that stop in case you might be heading on their route. You didn't cause them any inconveniences; this is what they get paid to do.

Wave them off. Your not being rude. The bus driver has to stop and check at every stop.

you can wave your hand or shake your head no, to tell the bus driver that's not your bus, or lean in to see the number and then walk away or something.

but sometimes they have to stop anyway to let someone off.

and if they do stop, don't worry about it.

good question, not weird.

If you see from a distance it's not your bus, you can step back or shake your head to make it clear you're not waiting for him; if he still wants to stop then don't feel bad.

well, all you have to do is when the bus that you are not going to go one is coming, quickly walk away like youre trying to go to the mall or any shop near you before it arrives . and when the bus ur going on is coming, wave ur hand at it so itll know thatn ur going on it. other wise, it wont stop.

hope i helped~

I'd probably struggle with the same thing. ;) Are there specific route times?
