Hey guys, I've been working out for about 2 years now and yes you need to eat after you work out! Your body is in a state where your muscles are broken down and putting protien and nutrients into in this time of need is best for you! Especially protien! If you do eat after you work out it shortens your time of recovery. The nutrients that you are puting back into your body shortens the amount of time that lactic acid stores itself in your sore joints and muscles. The soreness you feel will be from the lactic acid which everyones body releases when you work out, its how you choose to deal with it that matters. Leaving it will cause your body to be sore and it may take a day or two to fully repair your muscles. Be advised that if you are sore DO NOT work your body hard during this time or you will be tearing down the muscle even more and the lactic acid will continue to build, which may lead to a muscle tear. Our bodies are made up of about 98% water, and the rest protien and carbs take care of, so eating after you workout is a wise choice. You dont have to eat big, even a small portioned meal would be okay.

If you lift weights your body is in a state of breaking down muscle. Eating within half an hour after lifting (protein and some carbs) will help your body switch into a state of rebuidling the muscles. You should really be getting food afterwards, plus your metabolism is high so anything you eat will be burned.

you shouldnt eat too much right after you work out. you should just get some protein...like 1/2 a protein bar or something. you need some protein for your muscles. then about an hour later you should have a real meal.
its not too bad if you dont eat after working out, its not the best idea because your muscles need to regain the nutrience they lost while you were working out, but usually all that happens is that you're sore the next day. just dont do it too much

U sound like me LOl... Well anything u eat after exercise gets burned up immediately - so u can pack ur calories there. I just eat small portions thro ought the day instead (im 2 lazy 2 exercise LOl) =)

If you don't eat immediately after a workout, your body will burn the fat within the body (if you lifted weights).
The body burns calories 4-6 hours after weight training.
As long as you aren't starving hungry, you are perfectly fine.
