I'm a teenager raised Catholic and I think that the church shouldn't tell me exactly how to practice my faith, but that I should try and do it myself. I am semi-practicing, I haven't gone to church in a few monthes but I do believe in God and actually listen to the priest. I'm not a homosexual but I just want to know what the Vatican tells over 1 Billion people on this earth to belive about people who are gay. I don't see whats wrong with it but my parents seem to just avoid the subject (they seem neutral-semi-against it).

Created in the image of the one God and equally endowed with rational souls, all men have the same nature and the same origin. Redeemed by the sacrifice of Christ, all are called to participate in the same divine beatitude: all therefore enjoy an equal dignity.

The Catholic Church believes there is nothing sinful about being homosexual. But homosexuals like all unmarried people are called to celibacy.

The Church specifically says that homosexuals "must be accepted with respect, compassion, and sensitivity. Every sign of unjust discrimination in their regard should be avoided."

Here is the text of the document, On the Pastoral Care of Homosexual Persons (1986): http://www.newadvent.org/library/docs_df86ho.htm

With love in Christ.

The wonderful thing about being a Catholic is that if you really don't agree with the doctrine, you can feel free to leave any time.
The church views homosexual acts and the lifestyle to be an unnatural state of being, but the individuals are always worthy of love, regardless of their practices.

I don't care what the church says about homosexuality, because some churches ordain homosexuals. I do care about what God Himself says- IT IS A SIN. Read Romans 1 and you cannot tell me that it is right- and God is pleased with people who practice it.

Well...we don't hate them...we just believe that God wanted it to be one man and one woman (i.e. Adam and Eve)

I do too, and it's nothing personal...I know a lot of homosexuals, and they are very nice people...

...Catholics just don't believe that God wanted a person of the same sex to be with another of the same sex...
