There are several ways to run faster for a mile time:
If you run long distance more frequently, your mile time should improve since you're body will build its endurance. It's much better to do this than practice running the mile over and over again because you're not building the stamina.
Another way is to start running with weights in your shoes. These can be purchased as several sports utility stores. When you take them off weeks later, you'll see a great amount of improvement. Hope that helped!

My goodness, I can't believe so much hocus-pocus answers. The only way to get faster is to practice running faster. Keep your regular schedule you have now EXCEPT:
2 days a week get to the track and do 10 x 100s, running the straights hard, resting on the turns. Do half-mile warmup and cooldown.
PS. You won't get where you want in a month, but you will get better with less chance of injury.
Good Luck

there are many things you can do that will help you improve your time.
Running at your normal pace or a little over your normal pace everyday, each day running a bit further.
Stretching is sure to help, if you stretch everyday you will not become sore so you can run faster longer.
Be sure to drink plenty of water and eat right if you are good to your body it will be good to you and let you run the mile in the time you desire
Hope this helped

Well as a runner the biggest thing to overcome is the mental aspect of running. Most people if your body says it hurts the instict decision is to stop. Push past the pain. besides that some good things would be hydrate well, learn your pace, and another big problems with a lot of younger runner is that they tend to drag their feet, and run with a shorter stride which actually takes more effort. So pay attention to that when you are running and try to lengthen your stride, while also have a fast turnover. Pace well, eat well, and like i said beat the will to give up mentally and you will see the seconds get cut off in chuncks. Oh one last thing, another thing inexperienced runners do is lean over when they get tired, stand erect when you run, slumping over naturally shortens your stride and causes you to get slower without knowing it......as a runner in high school i do not encourage weights on your shoes while you are running, you are going to cause extra un needed stress on certain muscles that may inflame them, and may cause injury....if you want to use them use 1-2 pound ankle weight during the day like in school and stuff. that won't hurt too bad.

well you have to set time limits for yourself.
make it a point to run the mile in 7 minutes and 50 seconds.
keep doing this everyday untill you get to a time you want.
push yourself!
good job for going out there and running!

my advice would be for you when you are running don't think about anything just think about the wind in your face and the most important thing for you to remember is don't worry about your time and you will have less worries and you will keep your mind on running that worked for me
