I'm pretty much a good person. I don't do anything too bad. Maybe say the lords name in vain, get overly frustrated, argue sometimes when I get stress. Besides that I always try to do the right thing. But still, if I try to start going to church and reading the bible I get scared(paranoid even). It's all seems so dark and black and white and sort of cult like or robotic(like thinking without your own opinion). I don't think that is the way that God wants us to think. It's an awful feeling so I just stop and figure I'll figure it out on my own without other's influences. What do you think?

the Bible says that God has not given us a spirit of fear but of power and of love and of a sound mind. 2Timothy1:7
The thief-devil- comes to kill, steal and destroy. but Jesus has come that you have life and have it more abundantly.
I believe that the Bible is the Truth and if you will beging to receive it as the Truth it will set you free. The devil doen't want you to serve God, so he has sent a tormenting spirit of fear to try to keep you away from the things of God. You have a choice...God is Love, not fear. Start at home, begin to express to God your concerns and ask Him to reveal His Love to you that overcomes all fear. He loves you and wants to bless you and bring you peace, love and real JOY. God is really awesome and He loves you right where you are.

The reason is Christianity is not the real path.
It has never been right.
Bible ? Thats what christians follow !!! Right ??

And you must be well sure that its edited by human beings every now and them. And a new version is every time released.

Why are GOD's WORDS REVISED ???? Did HE MAKE MISTAKES OR WHAT ???

It all makes sense. Only those people choose christianity who want to be bad unlike you. Who like illegal sex(without marriage), drinking and just doin' whatever they like, because thats what christians mostly do.

To be a true guy I suggest you to read Quran. God almighty may help you . You must go to a mosque, rather than church !!!

Try it. You would feel much safe in that way.

Or maybe next time you go to church , take your guitar and drums and start singing as they do , and this time improve a little by making babes strip and shake there *** in church .

(Then most of you would go there day and night)

I think you should pray to the Lord to be with you and guide you and protect you. Have you accepted Jesus as the Son of God and your Loving Savior? He will answer all your questions, you need some more mature Christian mentors and friends, read the Bible and discuss it with someone you trust is a believer. You can't do it alone, and God wants you to be with His other children. If you want to talk about it in more detail....email me. Peace, Indy

Mostly, the bible was intended for the jewish Kings and Priests, as a warning and reminder not to get drunk on their power once they took office. As leaders of God's chosen people, they had to be 'holy' in every respect, else the enemies of the God of Israel would have justification in attacking them. Naturally the writers included failures, and the
consquences of those failures, as horrible examples, to remind the governments and clergy to keep things tight.

To read and interpret the bible on a personal level is to invite disaster into one's mind and heart if one does not know the original intent and circumstances of the scripture. I don't recommend this unless you have a trusted source of insight into the scripture's meaning. And as far as trusting someone goes, that's one thing the bible says NOT to do...

You say you're "pretty much a good person." I might be impressed with your goodness, but do you think God is impressed? His standards are a lot higher than mine. In fact, because he his perfect, he demands perfection.
Perhaps it's a good thing that you feel scared when you read the Bible. Perhaps the Holy Spirit is speaking to you.
I would encourage you to read a Bible book that I don't think is too intimidating: The Gospel of John.

You need in prayer and mediatation on God's word, find a Christian group, Bible Study, church that will help you through your fears. Over a hundred times in the Bible God says, "Do not fear." Remember our faith is in the Prince of Peace.

Being a Christian isn't black and white. The Bible is amazing to read (I've read it through three time, but I read it as a novel, it is one giant story). The Bible is complex and interesting. I consider myself to be a Christian but don't go to church. I don't go to church because I just find my beliefs don't fit in with others. I am pro-choice (I am against abortion, and believe it is murder but have been raped and if I had gotten pregnant from it, I would have considered an abortion. God gave us free-will and choice), I am for gay marriage (God loves everyone).

Being a christian is about believing in God, believing in Jesus, and being a good person. There is no reason you have to go to church. But to keep a relationship with God it wouldn't hurt to pray and read the bible on your own. If you have any questions when reading (I had several) take notes and ask for help here or e-mail a local pastor.

First of all, we can always find someone that we can say we are better than. However , when we look at ourselves through the lens of God, we are not good. However instead of saying this scares you and makes you paranoid, try looking at it this way. We are VERY undeserving of the love of the Most Holy God- however God loves us so much that He sent His Son to save us. That is how much He loves you. Yes, sin is dark- however have you really looked at the light of Christ- as Eph. 1 says- "He has brought us out of the kingdom of darkness into the Kingdom of Light". Satan wants you to live in fear of God so you will not come to Him, and accept His love and forgiveness. Saying the Lord's name in vain- how does God think of that? We should not compare our sin to someone else's, we must look to God and align ourselves with Him. However, without Christ we cannot do that. If you can email would love to talk more. Please do not take this as judging you, I care enough about you to share this with you.

I think that you should get under some good teaching like that given by Paul Sheppard. Here's a great sermon that you might find applicable to your feelings about church people and your fears about not being as good of a Christian as you believe others want you to be.

If the question asks for a verse the place such and such is very written, or choose the Scriptural foundation for a thought, I grant the verse. some ideals (practices) have huge scriptural help or foundation, such because of fact the doctrine of purgatory; i will grant a link then whoever is attracted to analyzing added can pass there.
