YES YOU CAN!

Just file an Amended return-here is the link for you to download the form: http://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/f1040x.pdf

Here is some info on filing an amended return as well: http://www.irs.gov/taxtopics/tc308.html

If the gov't owes you money because you qualify for EIC, then you can fill out an amended tax return (form 1040x) and they will send you a check if you really do qualify. It will take at least 6-8 weeks for them to process it though--amended returns always take longer.

If you were qualified for EIC or any other credit and failed to include that in your 2006 return you may file an amendment with a IRS Form 1040X. Those are not easy to do without software or a good understanding of tax preparation. If you had a tax service prepare your tax return and they missed the EIC they should file the 1040X for free. (if not find a new tax service).

Yes. To my knowledge, you have to file a federal, ad possibly a state 1040x (Tax Return Amendment Form) to do this. You can only go back three years to amend returns.

Which leads to an irritating thought: The IRS can go back 7 years to audit, but we only get three. Some justice form the Democrat Roosevelt's temporary tax... (Franklin Roosevelt instituted the mandatory income tax during his 3+ terms in office, during the New Deal - Here's something new... I'll take your money if you don't give it to me voluntarily.)

If you were eligible for EIC but didn't claim it, you can file an amended return and will get it if you're eligible.

You may be able to do so. Check with the IRS or an accountant. However, how much of a refund would you get? You have to decide if it's worth it for you to do so...
