i think maybe some of these guys know that something is going to happen early in the race, and by the 'normal' leaders to not be in the top, they may save themselves and their cars for a really interesting finish, wonder who is gonna come all the way from the back of the pack to lead to the checkered flag...i cant wait...already got the food and drinks all done, tv is set, all i need now is to hear those famous words 'GENTLEMEN START YOUR ENGINES...LETS GO RACIN BOYS!!!! GO Jr. !!! {{{8}}} ALL THE WAY BABY!!

This is what happened a couple of weeks ago, then the rain came and the upfront qualifiers got messed over by Nascar calling off the qualifying.

These guys have to get up front to secure making the race, they have their cars set up in qualifying trim not race trim, thats why they made it so close to the top.

Now, if they can get the cars race ready for Sunday, they'll be set. And I hope they do good.

I was sure surprised, but how many times have we seen guys that qualify good get on the track on race day and end the race at the end of the pack ??? Just because they qualified good doesn't mean they'll do go in the race.

is it a "impound" race? if so most of the real contenders are towards the back because they don't need to qualify at michigan well to win, 3 groove race track needs good race setups.....

and labonte shouldn't be a suprise he has run well for the petty camp. some bad luck in wrecks here and there.

Yeah, I was really surprised. I was at the racetrack today during qualifying. All the people there were shocked when some of the names showed up on the leader board.

Very nice for Micheal, good to see it. Not really surprised though. He did, after all, finish 10th in the last Michigan race.
