I usually stick a piece of gum in my mouth right before the plane starts to gain speed and take off. I would yawn also.

Try chewing gum during the flight. Or holding your nose and puffing your cheeks up with air. Also try yawning.

I fly a lot, and either yawn, or swallo in any way possible, whether its a snack or water, or just swallow on your own.
