I don't want more people engaged, I want better people engaged. If you figure that many, if not most average voters actually believe that Iraq was somehow tied to the attack of 11 SEP 2001 or that the "assault weapons ban" dealt with machine guns, you KNOW most of them can't be trusted with a grocery list let alone managing the country.

The question should be how do we get the electorate better informed. This is obviously not through the media, since it demonstrates a bias.

Iraq is the most obvious example. 90% of the news is positive yet when reported it is buried at the bottom of a negative headline A CNN report yesterday stated that more than 4000 had died, but the fact is it's less than 3700 US soldiers, of which less than 2700 are combat related deaths.(See my blog for the truth on the war.) http://blog.360.yahoo.com/blog-DfkctJU7dK5B7LcNROoyVQ--;_ylt=AvKCmn92W_FCk0ugZGetFge0AOJ3?cq=1
(No politics. Just the groundtruth from a combat veteran that has been to both fronts in the war on terror.)

The internet is also not the answer as America has turned to politics of hate rather than reasonable debate. The internet is hence full of half-truths and outright lies.

The electorate must want to know the truth. They must examine the candidates on merit and issues rather than party and hate. They must once again remind the politicians that they work for the people and the people must choose those they trust to make the decisions rather than supporting the decisions the media tells them to support.

The answer lies in the people wanting it and in the people educating themselves and demanding it.

Through brains and education. But you can't fix stupid and the part of the population that does not pay attention except to spout mindless rants about GWB will never be reallly capable of voting. Thank goodness

Who cares. It is usually Libs that are too stoned or lazy to get out of bed and vote, so I say, the less the merrier.
