I'm only 6th grade but I'm also a bit annoyed by the spelling....
I don't mean to brag but I don't really have to use the spell checker.. Our school has a wrong spelling wrong answer rule...

I had to laugh because not only did I see a couple of mistakes in your question but even in those who pointed out your mistakes.
I think we're all guilty of not proof reading and/or at minimum not using spell checker. But I do know what you mean. How can you answer a question when there isn't a clue as to what's being asked? It's so frustrating.
I came across one the other day that even with using text messaging language & phonics to figure out the words it still didn't make any sense. Equally aggravating are the ones that want particular advice for a personal subject. Yet ask it in such a general way you can't really help. This one guy asked the same question 3 times in 3 different ways. So by the time he received answers on every one of them it would appear he was a misunderstood, stable, secure, boring serial killer. lol!
So what if you wasted 5 points? You got to vent and no one was hurt in the process. I do agree though. If you really want an answer at least care enough to make an honest attempt at having it understood. Otherwise it ends up just being a mindless chat.

No, it's not a contest on Yahoo. Grammar and spelling count in every aspect of life though. If I were a boss and looking to hire someone, I would not accept the kind of grammar and spelling I see on here. I know, I know, people say they know the difference and would use proper grammar and spelling if the time came to apply for a job, but it's hard to believe that someone who is so ingrained in things like using "u" instead of "you" would be able to put that aside and pick it up again at the drop of a hat. Think about it. Like Musicality said, the problem isn't with the rest of the world. It's in your hands to fix it.

This is another aspect to a debate that comes up at this time of year in the UK, exam results once again have shown exceptionally high pass rates and grades in all subjects. Yet all around us there is an increase of appallingly bad use of the English language from people of the age sitting those exams. It really does make you question the validity and worthyness of not only the examinations but the standard of education these people are displaying.

I don't care for all the other answers. It turns me off to see the English language used so badly. Some of the questions and answers seem like they are coming from a 1st grader. It really discusts me. These people want to know the answer to something, but can't even post the question properly. So many of them seem like they need to go back to school. I'm with you 100%. Everyone else can go back to school theirselves if they think bad English and bad grammer is okay.

I agree, it is just due to the nature of language, or at least the English one. I can't stand bad grammar and I am 19! People think there's no problem to excessively abbreviate and mis-spell words because the just of the message is still given, but it's very annoying.

Sorry, I love it, it makes me laugh (it also scares me witless because these people are the future of this country!!!).
It makes it more fun to take the moral high ground with idiotic sexist and racist bigots who cannot string a coherent sentence together.
Please don't make us get rid of them?!?!?!?!?
