You are right, in an ideal world you would get the protection for all 3 (plaque, gingivitis, and decay). You should brush in the AM and then use one of the regular Listerines (Natural citrus/cool mint). At night brush then rinse with the Tooth Defense, spit it out and go to bed. OR instead of tooth defense use another brand called ACT or Fluorigard. The idea is to leave the residual fluoride on the teeth for at least 1/2 hour so it is absorbed and can help prevent cavities. OR, have your dentist give you a prescription for a fluoride toothpaste (like Prevident) with a higher fluoride content to prevent cavities. Hope that helps!

Mothwash is not really that effective at "killing " plaque-or the germs that cause plaque, which causes gingivitis. They say that to sell mouthwash, naivite. Brushing and flossing is the way to prevent plaque and gingivitis. If you have serious problems, a dentist will help you way more than any kind of Listerine.

Do not combine any mouthwashes, they are plenty strong by their selves. I recommend trying different mouthwashes until you find the one that's right for you. I used to use Listerine but it was hurting my gums, i have gingivitis. Then someone recommended peroxide, that did not bother my gums but it dried my throat out. Then i saw a commercial for ACT mouthwash and it works great for me! It depends on what works for you, not what other people say will work. So keep trying different brands. You will find one that works.

Listerine is really great for protecting your teeth from decay. My husband has got some bad teeth and the dentist told him to use Listerine and it has been working good for him. Maybe u should buy a toothpaste that helps protect the other things.
