Do you truly believe that we have free will? If it is so important to have a religion, does that negate the free will?

all right, I am a pagan and th e I do believe we have free will, but only to the extent as to how we worship, once we choose the religion, our free will is gone.

Free will is a religious concept- something invented by religious leaders to 'weed out the wheat from the tares.' In other words, it's a given- we all have absolute free will. We're born with it. However, for example, Christians believe we have free will but that we have to choose Jesus or go to hell. So the choice is really to believe in Jesus and all the other doctrines of the church/bible, or burn forever and ever amen in an unquenchable lake of fire.

Yes we do have free will, it screams all over R&S in a thousand different voices.
It isn't important to have religion; what is important is to have a relationship with the living God of Abraham, Issac, Israel, & King David.
This does not negate free will, it reinforces the act of free will. No one is forced by God to bend their knee to Him. No one is forced to do what they do not want to do. If one wants to follow the religion of Scientology then you are free to turn your back on God. If a man doesn't want to be involved in organized religion he can always go elswhere.
However ...once you decide to give your life over to God? Then you are still free to listen to Him and His teachings; or not. Never the less ...the individual is the one who decides to worship God, to involve themselves in a relationship with the living God.
No one is forced against their will by God, but everyone is forced to answer to Him come our judgement day.
The individual decides here and now what answer they are going to give Him. We cannot do it in the grave.

We have a free will to a degree but no where near completely. We are like a leaf in a stream that can navigate the rapids but still has to flow with the water.

I believe in free will and religion. I just don`t believe God micro manages everyones lives. Old Guy, just because it isn`t written in the bible, doesn`t mean it isn`t so. You know the sun is coming up, but you don`t have to read it in the paper to believe it.

I am aBible believeer, soI don't believe people have a free will. I have always challanged those who claim man has a free will to produce one verse from any part of the Bible that states people have a free will. No one so far has met my challange.
