Cat's in the Cradle by Harry Chapin. Its about a dad who doesn't have time to play catch with his son. The kid is understanding about it, wants to know when dad will be home and dad is like I don't know when. So the kid is like no problem, I want to be like you when I grow up. Son goes off to college, and by that time he just wants the keys to the family car. The dad retires and calls his now grown son on the phone and wants to see him, but the son is like my kid has the flu and I have to go to work. The dad is like "my boy is just like me". Classic!

MacArthur Park - I love how "The Four Tops" (very old school group from Motown) sang it - also Donna Summer (very old school disco singer) - it's about how fragile love is and how we should make sure we treat love right.

wow. the two people above me have the same song....it must be popular. i know it and i don't like it. my favorite is probably John Wayne Gacy Jr. by Sufjan Stevens. im not sure if you would consider it depressing, but it is about a murderer. kinda creepy, but its one of my favorites.
