That is actually how I ended up adopting my second oldest cat :). There was a great pet store (closed now :( ) near us that didn't sell cats, but would home kittens that people didn't want. I went to visit the owner one afternoon (I worked two doors down) and there was a new batch of kittens. There was one, so very cute, black and white medium furred boy with an absolute perfect mask, who kept climbing up my leg. When I held him, he stayed for a little then climbed up to my shoulder. I left him there while I was visiting and he fell asleep!!
I went back to work with him on my shoulder and he slept pretty much all afternoon there LOL! Naturally, he came home with me that evening. We named him MOZ (short for Mask of Zorro) and he is still a big cuddlepuss, though he doesn't go up on my shoulder any more, except when I am sleeping :)
I wouldn't worry... it is just your cat's idiosyncrasy (and they ALL have to have at least one) :)

Cats are strange creatures. As long as she's not digging her claws into your skin. . . you could get a kitty condo/tree climb thing from Petco and when she does that, transfer her to it. She just likes being up higher than everyone else. I'm trying to teach mine that she can sleep at the end of the bed but not "in" the bed, like right next to me. Its for her own safety since she'll either get crushed or fly off thru the air when I roll over. Actually the latter thing is pretty funny to watch.

normal? I don't think that has ever been used in the same sentence as "cats".
I had a calico who would come running and jump up on my shoulders whenever I entered a room. I found it adorable- she could really leap. My mother was terrified she would jump up on her shoulders- never did.
She also would sit on top of my head- I could walk around like that and we would both be happy.
Have fun.

I've only had one cat that ever did that, I thought it was great, I could walk around with him draped across my shoulders all over the house, he never jumped off. He showed me his trick one day, I didn't teach him, he previously owned other people and I can only guess it started there. He was the smartest cat I ever had. A big old tuxedo tabby named Pepper.

Mint and catnip are very closely related plants. In fact, catnip used to be called "cat mint" in the 1700's. Your cat is probably attracted to the smell of mint because it reminds her for catnip.

Some animals just prefer different sports to sit on. I guess in this case its your shoulders :)
If it doesn't bug you, then i wouldn't worry about it.
