AH! I feel your pain. Here are some tips that helped me pass these tests with flying colors.
1. You are the employer. So if a question asks about "is it okay to show up late every now and then" answer NO.
2. You are hard core about customer service. So if a question asks about "what if someone wants to return a product that is against the return policy?" you still answer that you'll take the product back.
Now... if you are talking about personality tests with questions like "do you think others are out for themselves" these can be a bit tricky.
Once again, answer how you think the employer would want you to answer. So for that above question, you would say "no"
Lastly, remember to stay consistent. If you say that you are friendly in one answer then do not answer later on that you like to spend time alone.
Hope that helps some.

I have failed them too. I was talking to a girl who got a job at a bank that I had applied for and she told me that she had failed the first time and gone back and lied on it the second time and had passed. I asked her what she did and she said she made it sound like she was the most perfect person in the world. There were questions on there like,"How many hours of TV do you watch a day?" "Did you run away from home as a teenager?" I always thought if I lied that I might be asked about things like that in an interview. If they are the MBTI kind of tests you just might not be what they're looking for. I always come out as an introvert. Those tests are hard to fake. Just be fairly honest and fudge a little if you have to. If you don't pass, then maybe it's not the right kind of job for you. Don't get down, it's their loss, not yours, and you will find the right job.

A lot of companies are now doing this... and it really depends on what they're looking for to determine what kind of employee they want. For example, you could "fail" a test for, lets say being a secretary, but "pass" for being a car mechanic. We can't really tell you why you fail or what they are looking for... its really what the job type is. If you know you're going into a test like that, think about the position you are applying for and how the questions they ask would be answered by someone in the position you are applying for.
Hope that helps :)

I had to take a personality test myself for management positions that I was fully qualified for, at a company where I'd worked 3 years and had proven myself superior at my position. I answered honestly, and I think it costed me offers. I kept giving answers that implied that I was nice and easygoing. But for the positions I was being considered for, I think the company preferred folks who are highly assertive.
Anyway, try not be down about it. Personality tests are just the nature of the beast in the corporate world. They don't seem fair to us, but they do seem to be effective for the companies.
You just have to do the best you can as far as answering questions the way you THINK the employer wants you to answer them.

these personality tests are not pass fail.
They are just character indicators. Some things they tell, shy, assertive, uncompromising to authority, individual goal setter as opposed to team achiever, leader- follower, can handle high stress situations calmly. What jobs are you applying for andaccording to you do you fit the characteristivsof the position youare applying for.

Personality tests are not accurate. They are merely an excuse for employers to get out of setting a personal relationship with someone they may not hire. I would not take it personal though. Just keep trying.

THey are for the company to see how well they believe you will fit in with the company.. How well you can work with your job... They have nothing to do with your sanity, or how you live your life really, they can not base a decision on that alone, otherwise it would be discrimintaion... That is all i know about it, sorry i couldnt tell you more.

This is going to seem sort of funny but you can't answer those things honestly. You have to tell them what answer they want to hear and you shouldn't have a problem getting by them. I know it's not the best tactic but it gets results.
