Yeah, but I've heard a lot of talk about switching to conventional woodland and desert digital patterns, like the marines have. Which is much more effective, since the acu sticks out like a sore thumb in the desert and in a woodland enviroment. I've also heard that we'll be switching over to a uniform made from nomex, since the acu is a poly blend, it melts to your skin in a flash fire.

Yea, it's called ACUPAT or just the new version of the DCU. It blends in better in urban environments. The Marines version is called MARPAT http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MARPAT. They have the woodland version already as well as the desert. The Army just has the Desert ACU so far. The woodland ACU is supposed to be out by December 07.

Eh gentle field. you have been never fully interior the NG (this is why you havent been discharged: no longer something to discharge quite) so wearing this is going to kinda be posing. besides the undeniable fact that i see sufficient individuals dressed up as infantrymen on halloween, often little childrens who like enjoying army and wanna strengthen as much as try this although, so see you later as you have a glowstick so which you dont get hit via a automobile and shield your mommy's hand i see no disaster there

It is not a new or the new uniform. Depending on the military's location, they try to blend in, camaflauge. So if they were in a desert, they would often wear the desert camaflauge, in Vietnam it was all green, so they wore the green camaflauge. Etc

yes, this is called ACU. my hubby says he likes it due to that fact it s 'wash and wear' but it hold heat in more, and doesn't allow you to sweat, the inital purchase is much higher, and the badges and name tages , etc... are more expensive.
He prefers DCU over ACU, because they were looser knit, and more breathable. the ACU is made to wear year round, imagine trying to work outside, in 115 degree weather, plus that uniform, plus protective gear! not so nice of a uniform.
and yes, it does NOT blend in with sand! NOR does it blend in with urban areas. pointless.

Yes this is the new digital pattern the Army is using, they have it in many different colors as well. The Marine Corps. was the first to adopt it. Pretty sweet insnt it. It looks good in the "Urban" black, blue, and grey the Airforce will be adopting.
Hope this helps

i would take a any digital camo over woodland any day...woodland does work, but its hard boundaries between colors make it very easy to pick out. and if you think about it, the ACU does work in a woodland environment. I go airsofting all the time and have seen so many different camo patterns, and some people have managed to disappear with plain OD, and one even managed to pull it off with Urban camo. But the ACU does work very well in the woodlands

Yes that is it....sure it looks great, it is comfortable, has good function, but it doesn't blend too well standing in a pile of sand. But overall I think it is an improvement over the BDU and DCU.

Yes it it. Copied the Marines who had the digital pattern before them. At least Marines don't wear some silly blue outfit. We got it right.

This new US Army camo is called MARPAT which the US bought from the Canadian Forces (CADPAT), they changed the colors and resized the pixels, it's just a copy.
CADPAT exists since 2002 and MARPAT since 2005.
