Like most know we are still speaking English, Having fun on the internet Yes it may seem like a lot of men were lost but when you look at how many years have past and the total population the US has had since the end of the war, It was worth it. BUT why is the fight to keep radical Islam out of the US and the world not worth the fight. I have read many Blogs where some of these _____ are wanting to take full control of the US. The Army taught us to LEAD-FOLLOW-or GET THE HELL OUT OF THE WAY. I wish some politicians would do the last.

Um.... that's a tough one...
Let's see...

France is still France and not Germany.
Britain is still Britain and not Germany
Italy is til Italy and not Germany.
In fact probably every country in Europe is sovereign because of WWII.
The South Pacific, including Australia and New Zealand, are still sovereign... and not Japan.
Hawaii is a part of the United States and not Japan.
Hitler is dead.
The concentration camps are gone.
There are no Japanese or German subs patrolling the seas.
Our German scientists beat Russia's German scientists to the moon.
Had Hawaii fallen into Japanese hands, it's likely that at least the West Coast of the United States might well have been taken.

I don't know... what do you think?

In my opinion, you're asking the wrong question. War is only measured in these terms by politicians. The real question is whether the soliders that died and their families were willing to make the sacrifices asked of them. Numbers are irrelevant because Nations don't make sacrifices, people do. Just be thankful that there were people willing to put an end to tyranny at the cost of their own lives.

I've been to the World War II Memorial in Washington DC. Actually, just over 400,000 American lives were lost in the war. I don't know about the monetary cost.
Unfortunately, I have to answer "yes" to your question. The Axis Powers (Germany, Italy and Japan) were intent on taking over the world and there was no negotiating with them.

It was worth every single Human life (every single nation made victory possible - without any major, and a few minor, powers Allied forces would have lost in the European and African theatres without any shred of doubt) and currency value, not just American lives and money.

Although 52 million people died in all, the war was worth it. If we had not gone to war, we would have fallen - then Hitler may have been able to gain the upper hand against Russia, and America was far from able to win the war without the European allies.

If we had not fought the war, Hitler, Mussolini, and Togo would have won. Then Hitler and Mussolini would have taken Japan. Then Hitler would have taken Italy, and become ruler of the world. In order to keep control be would have to use the most barbaric methods possible. Remember he said over and over that he intended to be the first person to rule the whole world. Not in partnership with Japan or Italy - - - himself. His promise repeated over and over was, " Heute gehert uns Deutchland, morgan die ganse welt ".
It was worth every penny and life. By the way, I was in the infantry from 1940 to 1947. Over six years overseas. I never had as much as a three day pass. It was mud and blood every day.

Would you like to speak German, or Japanese as your first language? Would you like to be subserviant to someone else, who told you what to think, say, and do? Would you like to live knowing that your life was what it was, and could never be better, no matter how hard you worked, or tried to change it? That was the choice for those 300,000 lives on Dec.7th 1941. Money never came into the decision process. It was about freedom. Just like the kids in Irag now!

The allied nations considered it necessary enough to create an armada of 4,000 ships to invade the coast of Normandy. It was and still is the largest armada ever assembled in history. It will take an even greater effort and far more lost lives to defeat Islam.

Without those who went willingly to fight to keep this country free we would all be speaking either German or Japanese! Yes, although I hate the thought of how many died, it was worth it & every living veteran who fought in that war will tell you it was worth every bit of what was paid! Evidentily you have not read enough about that war or you would not need to ask this question. It was necessary for us to defeat these two countries that declared war on us. We really had no choice! Either fight or die! I'm glad they chose to fight & you should be too! Japan declared war on America on Dec. 7th, 1941 & Germany declared war on us on Dec. 11, 1941, what were we supposed to do?

We did not start WW11. In fact we were seriously damaged by Pear Harbor, so it was a necessary War started by the Japanese, and unlike Vietnam or Iraq and other wars we will not be held responsible for beginning WW11 or Korea. But, eventually when the horse pucky goes away with time, America will be held responsible for Vietnam and Iraq.
Don't miss it!
