How do you argue reason and logic to people that.........?

....have accepted fantasy as reality? They are willing to bet their entire life's on this concept.

Some people will never understand where we're coming from. Religion is a huge part of who they are and they've known it all their life. They don't want to give it up. Even if they doubt it they convince themselves that they're sinning by doubting God's existence. I used to be like that until one day I just ......figured it out.

I accept you as a reality... one that is intolerant perhaps, but still a reality. Why not stop worrying about others thoughts and ideas and worry about finding ways to bring about world peace, eliminate world hunger and poverty?

I'm willing to bet my entire life that these are the concepts worth pursuing, and that these are the real goals of religion as well. I know at least that Jesus' goal was to care for the people above the laws.

Reason and logic will not keep you from a sinner's reward. But enjoy, anyway. We feel the same way about those that will not listen to reason as far as their disbelief or disobedience to God goes. What reality do you speak of? Man's reality? The reality of the physical world? There are things that you can never possibly understand. Fantasy indeed.

Then agree to disagree

If you are half the argument then your half of the problem. The problem isn't religion. The problem is you. People like you and your half and people like them and there half making a whole *** and a really big mess of the world.

There are no facts that disprove the "fantasy" of a higher being... so you cannot say that your position has logic and reason over the other. But you have more logic than fundies.

I would guess those fantasy people will make fairly awesome lovers. Reality isn't always attractive.

it's hard to post questions like this because they'll all just say, "and how can you argue that our so-called fantasy is actually not reality." or something of that nature.

it's like actually believing the evidence of evolution was placed here by the devil or however they're going to explain it got here.

we need a new sub-section of math and science that is devoted to questions of this subject. that way we can sift through the bible passages to have educated discussions on the psychology of christianity and things of this nature.

You should never "argue" anything because it is senseless and actually causes other to turn you off rather than listen to any facts you may present.

All you can do is present the facts as you discuss them and it's up to them whether they believe what you have shown them. If they don't, let it go. It isn't your place to control what others do or say.

Here you are, stranded on this tiny planet, floating through a vast blackness, with a perspective on the universe that is singular at best, and you are going to tell me what is real and what isn't? You know nothing. Until you've left this planet, exited this universe, and gained a more pluralistic, extrinsic perspective, you will continue to know NOTHING. Get real.
