This reporting frenzy seems to happen in cycles. I joined last June on a different account, and you could say just about anything then--no one cared.
Come September, this place was a madhouse. Everyone was being reported for anything imaginable, and most of it was innocent. Between Sept. 17 and Dec. 31, I lost 5 accounts and received over 100 violations. November was the worst month, as I recall.
Then it stopped for awhile. Only occasionally would anyone mention the reports, and somewhere around March it all started up again.
This account was clean until then, and in March I received 16 violations. I've kept a low profile and haven't received more than a handful since then, but I've seen a lot of familiar faces get deleted.
It's a shame, and no one has the right to harass others in this manner. My hope is that it soon settles down again, even though history has shown that any type of peace will be short-lived.

I'll post this publicly.
I am assuming the report abuse and violation emails are automated for when I found a FORM to fill out to report earlier vile abuse I got an email from 'live' people of Y/A who were very concerned and investigating.
At top right of this page click 'Help'
Scroll down to 'Yahoo Help Central' (lower left) Click
Scroll down to "Unsure where to Report Abuse' and under that is; "Use this form if you are unsure where...." Click
A form will appear, fill out and send. You will recieve an email from those live folks. They welcome these reports.
Good Luck
Blessed Be

So, if someone doesn't like our answer, they report it and we're deleted, warned? I have only reported once in genealogy. A woman gave an answer that listed every person in the U.S. with a certain name, alive and dead, and supplied SSN's and phone numbers. Don't want my name showing up like that and thought that a legitimate violation. Otherwise, an opinion is just that. Take it or leave it. Don't try to get revenge by reporting.

Vigilante:
A vigilante is a person or persons who ignore due process of law after a crime has been committed, instead enacting their own form of justice when they deem the response of the authorities to be insufficient.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vigilante
Troll:.) (1) To deliberately post derogatory or inflammatory comments to a community forum, chat room, newsgroup and/or a blog in order to bait other users into responding.
http://www.webopedia.com/TERM/T/troll.html
(I'm assuming that some people are control freaks and might have a borderline personality disorder or BPD)
http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/borderline-personality-disorder/DS00442/DSECTION=2
Relationships are usually in turmoil. People with BPD often experience a love-hate relationship with others. They may idealize someone one moment and then abruptly and dramatically shift to fury and hate over perceived slights or even misunderstandings. This is because people with the disorder have difficulty accepting gray areas — things are either black or white. For instance, in the eyes of a person with BPD, someone is either good or evil. And that same person may be good one day and evil the next.

I went on to post an answer to a very stupid question. I simply said "thanks for the 2 points" because there was no answer and it was an insult to my intelligence. I wondered why I didn't just hit the back button. And I got a violation for that. I responded by saying that I hoped the person whom posted the extremely offensive and stupid question got booted, too! katiefish <><

you're a first-rate occasion of the user-friendly loss of clever Christians in this internet site. it fairly is observed as Questions and solutions. not 'shall all of us consult with our imaginary acquaintances'. Praying or preaching or in spite of you opt for to call that rambling nonsense is in sparkling VIOLATION of the Yahoo solutions words of provider. possibly in case you study some thing different than the bible you're able to desire to not constantly placed up such idiotic issues.

There are some organized packs or individuals using multiple accounts. It's the only explanation for some of the things that are hit.

Well, once my question was deleted before it was posted - I don't have a clue how that happened, maybe their using 'bots or filters. I've been reported for answers, often unnecessarily, more than usual recently.

It does seem to have reached a new high lately.
Maybe it is the close to end of summer blues.

it's annoying. notice how many of the formerly *top contributors* are orange badge-less? even with a bazillion points? notice how many people have cloned accounts or have disappeared completely?
i get violations every day without explanation, but i will continue to say what i believe...
doesn't matter if the reporting nazis are atheist or theist - small people with small minds...
