A filling that is leaking sounds strange I know. It is not draining anything out of it, but the margin of the filling is no longer tight. Food, bacteria, acids can now work their way behind the filling and cause recurrent decay. If this is not repaired the decay can get very deep very quickly. An xray will show any decay that is present and/or an instrument called an explorer will "catch" on the margin. If you are really unsure who to believe, get a third opinion. You'll either have 2 yes's or 2 no's ....but then you have to decide who gets to do it..lol Good luck. A tooth doesn't have to hurt to have decay, remember that. (Not until the decay is very deep).
