Why do we do it? Does God keep a tally of who prays for who? I don't believe it but wonder what you think. If I forget to pray for someone, does that mean they get one less vote???What I am really asking is why does God want us to pray for others? He knows their needs without hearing from us. We arn't so important that He wants our nod to bless thwem.

Um, it's like helping someone out. Like I pray for all those who don't believe in God, to one day be able to understand the truth, and know that He is real. So prayers are to help people, just to show that u care. and it's like a special way to ask for important things.

God knows what we will do long before we do it. What would have happened if He had decided to put all of us where we belong without even sending us to Earth. Some of us would be cool with it but most would be like "Hey I didn't do that and if you gave me a chance I wouldn't have done it. So basically we have to commit the crime to do the time.

This is an important point, which you need to understand.
First of all, God is outside of all space & time, in eternity.
So he gives individual attention to everyone who ever lived.
God gave us the gift of free-will; which means he respects us.
Even though he knows what we need, he will not force it on us.
God wants us to ask, & give our permission for him to act.
But God is also generous, & knows our intentions too.
Yes, we are important to God, & to one another.

Praying for others is more like sending a letter to God, saying: "I know you're not going to do anything about this, but I think Sophie should be treated better. But, you're still free to do what you like, what with the smiting and all. I just thought you'd like to know my opinion...you know, with the whole admissions into Heaven and all coming up...Nevermind, forget I mentioned it"

James 4:2 - ".....You do not have, because you do not ask God."

Matthew 18:20 - "For where two or three come together in my name, there am I, with them."

Yes, God knows what we need - even before we ask, but we MUST ASK, in order for Him to give.

Prayer has proven not to work, but I imagine the Christian God would appreciate the concern you show for others.

We hardly know what's best for ourselves. . .how could we possibly know better than almighty what is best for others?

Besides, when you think about it, when you pray for others, you're really doing it for selfish reasons anyway. . .not necessarily evil ones, just to save our feelings mostly.
