Ive flown from Conn to Florida many times. I dont especially care for the take off, my eyes are usually closed very tightly!! Landing is awesome, to me. I always get a window seat and its great. Most of my flights were very smooth landing, Ive never gotten sick on a plane, butyou could try some dramamine to keep your stomach calm, Have a great flight, you will be fine.

That's not a bad flight at all. I've made the flight from Ft. Lauderdale to Islip and JFK many times. Ascending is great, especially the speed you feel when you are taking off. Descending is nothing, you know you are getting lower and the actual landing only takes a few seconds and might be a little bumpy. Any turbulance is nothing that should really worry you. I remember flying through some rough whether on the return from NY to FL and it wasn't anything startling or scary. I have flown many times and have never puked nor seen or heard of anyone puking on the plane. It's not as if you'll experience any type of motion sickness because the flights are generally very smooth.

Hey, that's exciting that you are going on your first plane.
As for the ascending/descending...it varies. Sometimes it is so smooth you hardly notice it and sometimes it feels like something must be wrong. The good news is that it's usually somewhere in the middle and the actual landing just takes a minute. If you are a little nervous, just grit your teeth and try not to worry.
As for the puking....highly unlikely. I have never seen anyone puke on a plane. If you tend to have motion sickness, you might take something, but I get carsick and seasick both but never have problems on planes. The only thing I don't like is that my head feels foggy and my ears pop. I hate that!
Good luck and safe travels?

Depends on your tolerance of motion sickness, the take off and landing are the times you will probably be really nervous. You just have to remember that it is safer to fly than any other form of travel. You will have to learn how to val salva, or pop your ears when going up and down...you have to hold your nose and try to breathe out of it to pop your ears for the pressure difference. Also, bring some mint bubble gum to chew on and a book...

Expect turbelence & a great view outside the window. The acending/descending parts depend on the weather. If you easily get sea-sick, a high percentage of getting air-sick.

You should be fine if you arn't prone to motion sickness or something. Your ears may cause some discomfort on the descent, but the older you are, the less chance there is of happening. Constantly swallow of chw gum if your ears are clogging. Plus, if you puke, they have air sickness bags. It is a cool experience. Enjoy, not dread it.
