You are never too old and there are great guys out there. In your area, are there activities - walking, hiking, cycling, etc. - where you may meet people with the same interests. Also, talking with people online may be a way to at least converse as you get ready to get back out in the "real world." You need confidence and that will come from your heart of gold projecting out wonderful rays that will be seen and appreciated by a special someone.

Good on you for wanting to get back into the game!!
Here are a few ideas on where and how to find single men:
1. Online Dating:
Online dating has come along way since the old days when it was tacky, inappropriate and unsafe. Now there are websites for you that will do all the cupid work for you, all you have to do is sign up, enter interests ect and away you go. in a few days you will find some love interests. Start by emailing each other short notes, progress to phone calls and finally catch up if you feel a connection. Remember to always meet in a safe crowded area. Also, Facebook.com is a great way to expand your social network. It is a popular beleif that facebook is only designed for young, hip college students. But a wider age group around your age are starting to join up too. Try googling online dating agency's, I live in Australia and there are many around.
2. Your social network:
ask friends if they know other singles, you may not click, but you have a new friend and a new social circle to search!!
3. Local Clubs:
Try joining a sports club, morning tea group, gym, hobbies etc. If you expand the number of places you visit, than you will meet new people from all different avenues. Note: Only join something you are INTERESTED in, imagine joinging a club you hate and meeting a GREAT guy but who is really passionate about the club?
4. Pubs and Bars:
This is a cliche but will work, although you may only take home sleaze bags and guys after a good time. Sit alone at a pub for 10 minutes, make eye contact and smile with people and guaranteed somebody will start conversation.
5. Your Daily Life:
You may be surprised at how many eligible men are in your daily living space. Take a closer look next time, the wallflower with glasses may turn out to be your superman.
Remember when trying to meet new people, always make eye contact, smile and introduce yourself. Ask questions about your new man (they love talking about themself!), pay attention and dont fidget or look bored. Be open and honest, you don't want to start a relationship built on lies.
And if it doesn't work out the first time, don't worry! You have plenty more opportunities. Hold your head high, walk on and remember: it's his loss!!
Regarding your dress sense: try purchasing some fashion magazines and taking a look at the in season clothes. You don't want to completely re-make your style, but a few new accesories will freshen you and make you feel a million dollars. When shopping, take a look at what the manicans are wearing or the models in the posters. Ask yourself what works and try to re-create the look.
When you do find a man and are thinking about the first few dates, try some new options instead of boring old dates. You said you wanted to have fun, so why not try:
- rollerblading & morning coffee
- zoo and picnic lunch
- picnic on beach with wine at sunset (a classic, but still a killer)
- a theme park
- indoor rock climbing
- horseriding
Good Luck!!

I'm 36 and single and I have a bunch of male friends who are my age and single. And they're clever, interesting, well educated blokes.
On-line personals are fun. If you live in a more urban area, try meetin.org. Take some adult education classes. Sit in a coffee shop and write letters. Do some volunteer work. Anything that gets you out is good.

Well...you've got your dating sites like.
www.friendfinder.com
Yahoo Personals
www.dateable.com
Stay away from the clubs and bars....you ain't gonna find love there. You'll find lots of sex, but not love!
Try some Starbucks shops/ Malls/ Beaches / Party invites/ Bakeries/ Sports games/ Gyms/ Parks/ Knotts Berry Farm/ Magic Mountain too.
Good luck to you

try yahoo personals or some other dating site. I recommend yahoo personals cause that is the one i had the most luck with after my divorce and i met my new husband there. Also you could try just going into a chat room to get to talk to some guys and do some flirting if you want.

try eharmony.com, going.com, or meet up sites that don't have any pressure--just fun things to do. Make friends and don't feel that you are disqualified in any way. They say 40 is the new 30 and all that...have fun
