Christians think of eternal life as something worthwhile. I suspect others disagree. Is there a downside to immortality?

I think the soul is Immortal anyway, we have no choice in the matter. It has always existed and always will.
Death of the body doesnt bother me anymore than my car breaking down.
Even if Im wrong, oblivion doesnt bother me either. I would never know I ever existed. I think it would be the same as being under general anesthetic. I have no recollection of being under, no dreams, nothing...... the experiance put me at ease about the potential of oblivion.
Live or Die, all the same to me. Im comfortable.

To answer your question I am sure there will be people who don't want to live forever because they will have to suffer. Right now we are human and there are many things to do and lots of these things would take longer than a lifetime to do. However, when we are all immortal the things that we can do here on Earth will not be the only things we could do. If you live with God and become as Him then you can build and create entire planets and I am pretty sure that would take longer than anyone could ever live. Then watch as things slowly evolve into animals and then you insert humans into the equation. It would be fun to put random things that their minds probably couldn't comprehend and watch what they do.

Some slack-minded people. Those without sense enough to know what they are doing. Who must have caretakers keep an eye on them.

Things to do are endless in just this world we know. What about the things yet to be discovered.

Yes. As I get older (62 now), although I thoroughly enjoy life, the novelty does wear off somewhat.
Eternity is an unbearable prospect.

Look at it this way. . .when the ancient Greek gods punished people, they doomed them to live forever.

And if you thought you would live forever, would you continue to do what you do now?

If not, then why do you do what you do now?

Problem is that everyone will have eternal life. Some with the Lord and many in a not so pleasant place. God loves You so much that His Son Jesus Christ died for our sins so we may fellowship with Him.
