Yes, I'd like to know the truth, if you have it I'll be much obliged - although your chosen name however would suggest that you'll simply tell me to read and understand the Bible.

Both.

An important question is: Do YOU want to know the truth? When your Yahoo handle is Christ is the Answer, I seriously doubt that you want to know the truth. You're probably one of those folks who's answer to every possible question is"Jesus". Meaning of life? Jesus. Marital problems? Jesus. Chronic halitosis? Jesus. Square root of 64? Jesus.

"Jesus" is not so much an answer (or 'truth') as it's some mantra that's parroted by people who really don't give a damn about REALLY finding out what the universe is all about.

As for me, the desire for Truth was greater than using Jesus as some cudgel to beat over the heads of non-Christians. I was a True Believer at one time, but my stubborn desire to get to the truth of Ultimate Reality caused me to change my mind on Christianity. It was less about debating unbelievers than it was an intellectually honest search for Ultimate Reality, no matter if it meant having to give up my beliefs.

If a person truly desires to find out The Truth, then they should be open to the idea that The Truth might be 180 degrees opposite of your preconceptions. Otherwise, it's just argument for argument's sake...

The truth is most of us just like to argue....but at least we're willing to listen to the other side, just long enough to give them a thumbs down.

I am a Christian, and I think some of those who like to argue about there being no God, really believe there is, but look for reasons not to because they don't want to give up their temperal pleasures.

I can't speak for the Christian fundies since they just seem to post the same tired "meme" over and over. I wouldn't call that much of an "argument" - at least not a very convincing one.

Argue for argument's sake, definitely.
And, by the way, Christ is not the answer, he is an answer: a wrong answer!

You obviously couldn't handle the truth so you settled for a ridiculous belief. And, I learn from arguing so I enjoy it; win or lose.

truth is overrated. i would be happy to learn something new by arguing with those of different beliefs, and i often do so.

I search of the truth through science, which is a never ending search. In that is true humility.
