It recently began overheating and more quickly each time. The radiator was also badly cracked around the top. I sealed it with J B Weld. I do hope that was not a mistake. However, since putting in the new thermostat there it bubbling around the edge of the housing. Why?

generally people remove thermostats if they are stuck, thus the cars strts to heat. this is a bd thing in the morning because it promotes cold starts because it takes a longer time for the car to get to optimum working temperature...dont worry about the welding.

The thermostat is held down with 3, 10 mm nuts and there is a metal gasket under the aluminum housing the lower hose connects to that is the T-Stat. Located next to the timing cover on the front of the engine (passengers side) There is no thermostat in the top hose. Next problem when the plastic tanks of a radiator gets old and brittle no kind of epoxy JB weld will fix it. Sorry patching the radiator with glue just will lead to overheating. And you are going to remove the lower hose and (3) 10 MM NUTS AND WASHERS and go to the dealership and buy the correct part and get a metal gasket too for your new thermostat.. Do not drive the Maxima take some other car. Aftermarket radatior should cost $150 stat and gasket 24.00.

Leaking around the thermostat housing?
Did you replace the thermostat gasket or seal, use silicone? I'd try that first.
