Why does it always depend on some middleman? Some person who has a Hotline to Heaven that you don't have, or some person who has the Keys to the Kingdom? Some organization that makes a lot of tax-free dollars because they have a connection to the Divine that you, poor layperson, don't have?

OK, apparently many people are getting hung up on the gender thing. I picked 'she' just to be flippant, but you're getting distracted from the main issue--why do you need any middleman to get to God (he, she, it, whatever)?

If you check the Old Testament, you'll see that G-d intended to speak only to His chosen prophets, and the highest priests who performed certain rituals waving beef parts around and sprinkling blood on a leather seat.

I guess it's that way today too, only we don't have any chosen prophets at the moment (in the Old Testament, generations went by between them sometimes), and no one is performing the dead beef rituals.

The only "middleman" a person needs to get to God is Jesus Christ.

1 Timothy 2:5 For there is one God, and there is one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus,

God has spoken to me on a few occasions. Not in an audible voice but to my spirit to where I knew it was Him.

Joh 10:27 My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me.

You are so confused. God DOES communicate. No one needs a middleman to speak to God. God speaks to everyone, actually cries out to you. But YOU have to listen.

First of all not trying to be sexist but God is neither male nor female although he is refered to as he in the bible. But he definately does communicate many people have Heard God physically. i haven't personally but i've felt him i've felt a closeness and a bond. I've had him tell me verses in the bible to read that day. But God is definately alive and active and speaks to all people, we just need to listen.

Because god (she) is not real unlike God (HIM) is, and he has already said everything necessary for us to understand HIM, through his rejected written word aka. bible. And God is not sexist because of the gender that he wants to be recongnized by. He will hold the male gender more accountable then the female.

If only the other 94% of christians that don't ever read the bible did, maybe then they wouldn't allow themselves to be taken advantage of by those that claim to be speaking in behalf of God or that God gave them a message to share with someone. I truly believe that everything that God wanted me to know, he let it be known for me in the bible. The bible is the owners manual for the human race. For that portion of the human race willing to explore it without an agenda. In closing, He does not have to reveal himself to me, his written word is good enough for me.

Who says It communicates thru middlemen? You assume this is so, but actually God is that neverending voice in your deepest heart we call conscience and spirit. You dont have to believe any middlemen; let the soul be your guide.

God does communicate directly. Some just choose not to listen.

Wow, you're mistaken (or deliberately trying to bait us) on so many levels. Just read the Bible, and all your questions will be answered. The most basic one is that God is our heavenly Father, so that makes Him a He.

But to help you out, we Christians do have a direct connection to God.

The next time your conscience tells you something is wrong or right, or tells you what you should do to help someone, listen real close--that's the voice of God speaking to you; the trick is to actually listen to what is said, and to act upon it.

It is because God's middlemen are so trustworthy and respected that She cannot bear to take away their jobs of ranting and raving at street corners with cardboard signs and random Revelations quotes. "The End is NEER"
