We found a Chiweenie ( chihuahua/dachshund) and noone has come forward to claim him. So he is ours now. He seems to have a lot of Dachshund personality. But I was wondering what your expierences have been?

He seems to be house broken already. No accidents so far.
Do any owners know of any health issues they may be prone to? Besides the dachshunds back issues?

We found a dog like that too. We found her last year and since we have both purebred dachshunds and chihuahuas, we can really tell their personalities apart. The dog (Lucky) is really picky sometimes like a chihuahua, but the other times, she eats everything we give her and she can lay and sit down anywhere. Our chihuahua will only sit and lay on soft surfaces and he will only eat food that is very small. Well, Lucky has been very nice toward our other dogs and I hope your dog is fun to have and good luck.

As a long time Dachshund owner/breeder/ enthusiast, I cringe at this new cutsie name given to mutts! It is a cross of a Dachshund and a Chihuahua.

As with any cross breed, the dog can have the personality/temperament of one or the other breed or a combination of the two. That is the thing about crossbreds, no predicting what they will be like.

The weenies are bred as BADGER dogs. Badgers are, simply put, MEAN! The dog that is bred to go down the badger hole is also MEAN. If it were the size of a Pit-Bull it would be banned every where.

A Chihuahua is very affectionate mostly to one human that it attaches to. That sounds like a tough little mix.

Please, please, someone tell me that a "Chiweenie" is not really another attempt by byb's to make money.....??? Like a "Labradoodle"???

Your dog sounds very cute, though, and I wish you the best of luck with him, although I have never seen one. I'd love to see pics if you have any : )
