No. my brother works at a recyling smelter, the heat burns away all the labels, food bits, etc and then the scum is skimmed off of the molten metal and then it still goes through several purification steps.

It depends on the area that you live in. Here we can throw them in the regular trash and it gets magnetically seperated and sent to a recycling plant that processes the cans with labels into a salable product. (I run it). Don't sweat the labels, and think twice about rinsing the cans,(water usage, power for hot water, etc.) Most recyclers crush and bale the cans and send them to another processer who breaks the bales and mixes the cans in with other feed stock such as automobile shred. Don't worry about the labels.

Only if you can take the wrapper off. Sometimes you can't even take off the wrappers. But when you can, take them off!!!

It probably depends on the area, but I don't where I live. They wash them in really hot steam and water anyway and the wrappers fall off.

Yes, remove the labels. Put the tin cans in the metal bin and the labels in the paper bin. Voila!
