My boyfriend's mom just took her drunk husband to his AA meeting. If you are drunk and go to an AA meeting, what are the consequences?

There are no consequences at all. I attend and chair AA meetings. When a drunk person comes in, we make them feel welcome. It happens all the time.

Keep encouraging and supporting your boyfriends mom and husband, and get your boyfriend to go to an al-anon meeting.

My sister in law is in AA and she has said that it happens a lot. They usually just take them in and try to help them and usually wait until they are more sober to really talk to them if they are too drunk when they come in.

Chairing a meeting a person shared he had been drinking and his sponsor motioned to me to cut him off. I did after nearly ten minutes and thanked him for sharing. He didn't like it and there was mixed reactions by the other attendees. His sponsor took him aside and things calmed down. I am just the volunteer here! Yikes!

I'm sure its happened before but I would assume that they would not want him to come back until he can be sober. Even if its just for that one meeting!
