i have an AC adapter that has 8.4V 1.7A

but i want to use it on a camcorder that takes 8.4V 1.5A... is it ok?

what is the difference?

Your fine, your adapter has a higher capacity than your camcorder.

Make sure the polarity is the same also (example, center positive).

The voltage is the electrical pressure and must match. The amps are a measure of capacity. The device will naturally draw the 1.5 amps even though the adapter is capable of supplying 1.7 amps.

Definitely yes. The issue is one of voltage, which is clearly correct. The fact that the camcorder will only draw 1.5Amps simply means that the adapter has plenty of capacity in reserve, in that it can supply 1.7Amps

yes u can use it ok but ensure the polarity of the plug is correct if power pack output is DC.ur camcorder uses 200mA less than the power pack can provide

If the jack fits, you should be OK.
