Jesus didn't tell people to evangelize. He didn't get in peoples faces if they weren't interested.

I would love for you to tell me where in the Bible , Jesus taught tolerance? He preached love and obedience to the Father. Example- when the woman was caught in adultery, all the "religious" leaders were about to stone her, Jesus told them whoever is without sin cast the first stone. They all left. NOW if tolerance was what was preached, then he would have not mentioned the sins of the men, and he would have just said- ok woman you are free to go. What did He say- "GO AND SIN NO MORE". Loving someone is completely different to tolerance. If God was tolerant with us, then He would never have needed to sacrifice His Son on the Cross for our sin, He would have just forgiven us, because He is tolerant of our sin. God is not tolerant of our sin, however, He loves us so much that He wants us to admit that we are sinners, in need of a Savior- and to evangelize means to share the love of Christ with others so that they too can repent of their sins and come to know the loving Christ.

Christ never preached tolerance, he preached love, and in love he stood up against the religious leaders and false teaching, tolerating means to deny truth in many cases, truth is truth, and must be spoken, I love people, but I don't have to stand for lies, he told us to spread the message to all worlds, but man in their sinful nature says to be tolerant, Christ disrupt the evil of the day, look and the Temple scene were he cleaned it out, that was not tolerance that was just anger.

Jesus never preached tolerance. (At least not tolerance as practiced today by the politically correct.)

He preached exclusivity. He said, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except by me." (John 14:6)

That is why we evangelize. He is the only way to receive salvation.

Peter followed up with this: "Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved." (Acts 4:12)

Indeed Jesus is the only way. He didn't preach "tolerance."

EDIT for Gwen: Jesus said this: "Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age." (Matthew 28:19-20)

If you can point out where Jesus said to "tolerate" other ways to get to the Father....which I assume is what you're saying, in the bible....I'd be most interested. Especially since He said He was the only way. Not too tolerant, huh?

Tolerating and respecting what other people believe and sharing the Gospel with others are both expressions of love and authentic forms of both are completely compatible and not at all hypocrisy.

Hatred and ignorant bigotry poorly disguised as doing"The Great Commission' are incompatible with both tolerance and evangelism and are hypocrisy or destructive self-delusion.

He tells us to go out in love and tell the world about Him. I believe people have tolerance usually confused with His immense love for all of us. Outcasts, be it a prostitute or a leper, etc. This doesnt mean He agreed with the prostitute and wanted her to continuing her path; this means He loved her and spoke to her about the way to Heaven, which is through Him. Hope this helps clarify a bit.

Jesus never did teach tolerance. he says many times that God is intolerant with sin. Telling people that they are sinning and if they do not change is an act of love. Even the women in adultery Jesus told her to sin no more which meant that she was sinning which meant he had to judge her actions.

Where did Christ preach tolerance?? He did command His disciples to "go forth and make disciples of all peoples".

Christ did NOT teach tolerance. He taught us to reject any false teaching, false idols, etc.etc. That is a big misconception, especially on this site.
Tolerance was never even a public concept, Christian or otherwise, until the U.S Constitution made it one.

There is a huge difference in sharing with people who are interested in hearing about Christ and forcing beliefs on others.
