like for example suite life of zack and cody, they have sins like lieing and not listening to parents, is it a sin if we watch it? or does it depend on what you watch it for? i mean i dont watch it for the sin i just watch it because i like to watch shows like that, like hannah montana, and dont post stuff like, dont let religion control your life, i wanna live a christ like life

Believe in God.
All the rest is just details.
What you watch on TV is insignificant compared to how you lead your life.

You say that we are giving you answers that you told us not to give you, do you want us to lie to you to make you feel better than? That would be counterproductive.
Have you actually thought about your question? What about the show 7th Heaven? It's about a religious family whose dad is a minister. They show sins on that show, but they do it to teach, and to inform people. There is usually a lesson to be learned.
You can take everything in the Bible literally and never learn a thing about God because you never allowed yourself to LIVE. Or you can take the intended message of passages in the Bible, and mold your values and life ideals around that like the true intention of the book. (The bible WAS written before TV was invented remember)
I think God would want for us to witness sin and understand why it is wrong more so than turning a blind eye to it and never fully understanding why we live the way we do.
I don't mean this as an attack on you or anything, I'm just saying that we are giving you answers based on our lives, or our understanding of our religion. That is what you asked for, our opinion. If you disagree, fine, but we are all offering you our best advice to help you understand the situation you brought up.

There is nothing that is "forbidden" to me as a Christian, but there are things that are not good for me, and there are things that are a stumbling block to weaker Christians.
When in doubt, consult with the Christ Who lives within your heart...
In other words, if Jesus Himself were sitting next to you on the couch, would you turn the channel? If the answer is "yes", then you know what to do....
EDIT: I have to wonder, if Zack and Cody or Hannah Montana are "sinful shows", if you don't just need to leave the set turned off completely.

im sure God won't be that concerned with little stuff like that. the main thing you need to do is keep him in the center of your life and stay away from mortal sins (stealing, killing, adultery). you should also stay away from committing those smaller sins, but those are pretty much inevitable. even the holiest saints had sins, too!
however, im sure God must be so happy&proud that you really do wanna live a christ-like life. you seem to be a good kid who is very mature for wanting to live a holy life. as long as you keep God #1, everything else will turn out okay =]

Um well I'm christian and I'm allowed to watch just about anything. It's a sin if its like pornography or something terrible like that.
But Hannah Montana and the Suite Life are about as far from sins as you can get watching television lol.

Don't look for rules. They always get you in trouble. Any behavior can be justified or condemned by choosing the right rule and claiming to follow it. Instead ask questions like, do I feel better or worse after I watch this. Does this help my spirituality or take me away from it? Is this the best use of my time? This is communication with your higher power, a relationship, rather thinking you're a good boy who follows the rules.

I get kind of a charge out of watching a show and because of my faith recognizing acceptable behavior on any level as opposed to unacceptable. Who can say for sure what are influences are though so you need to be careful. If you want to life a Christ like life there is only one way to go...stay in the Word of God. Jesus say: "If you remain in me, I will remain in you." I believe that promise cuz I see it working in my life and I love the Bible. Religion doesn't control anyones life...everyone is free to make their own choices. Pray about it too....trust that God will guide you in the right direction. I did that with regard to secular music verses christian music and its the best decision I've ever made. Love in Christ, ~J~

From what I hear, we're all born in sin.
But, from what I've observed and have been a part of, in this life is that we all sin; all the time and everyday.
You can be Christ like, which means you are trying to be like Christ, but you can never, ever be Christ because there is only one.

Everybody is a sinner, and so are the people on television. I like watching those shows, when I am able to get to cable television! But we cannot let those shows take control of our lives. If a show is starting to pollute your mind and you make it an obession, you sould stop watching it. We want to follow God, and make God the center of our lives.
Bottom line, yes, you can watch shows with sin. Is there really a show with perfect people? We are all sinners! Yet God has granted mercy on us, and He loves us so much that He sent His one and only Son to die for Us!!!
I hope this helps!

You will know deep in your heart if it is a sin to watch something or not because you will continue to feel convicted when you do.
Pray first and then see. I had to stop watching certain shows.
Praise God for giving us a lighted path to follow home!
