BAH for now will be given as Hawaii, however if you move to a different locality you will have to claim BAH for the place you are living. i.e. if BAH in Hawaii is 1200 per month you can not move to Idaho and pay 500 a month and expect your BAH won't change. Don't try to cheat the system this could really hurt your husbands career if he is caught. When every you move documents are updated for BAH, Life insurance, etc. As far as when BAH kicks in it depends on when paperwork is turned in, which you probably won't know ahead of time. When paperwork is filed in the army there is a deadline for the paycheck on the 1st and 15th. You do not really know until it hits your bank, or a little before you can check My Pay. (A website your hubby should give you access to, but in reality he won't be able to until after basic.) Hope I could help at least a little.

As mentioned; the first and the 15th are Military pay days. Unless the 1st or the 15th fall on a Holiday or a Fri. and then you get paid the Friday before. Being that he's in Basic, you may have to wait a pay day or two before it shows up in your account. It takes the Military time to catch up with new pay; ie., new people in basic, when you change banks, if you are due extra money....it always take a little bit of time before you see it. I would plan for around the 15th of Sept. You MIGHT see it on the 1st, but more than likely it will show up around the 15th. of Sept. Also, they'll back pay you for each missed pay day. So, if it does show up on Sept. 15th, then you'll see pay for the 1st of Sept. and for the 15th of Aug. as well. And RJ...that was rude. She has a child; of course she's concerned about pay. How else is she supposed to buy diapers and food and pay bills?

it can take anywhere from 6 to 8 weeks to recieve the first paycheck.
My husband joined and went in on Nov 8th and we did not see his first check untill Dec 15th! i was getting worried because of Christmas....LOL
He will get Paid from the time he just got there (Tuesday) untill that first check comes in. We got a good lump sum on his first check!!!
So expect no check for awhile.
Oh and welcome to the army and BTW its not boot camp, it's basic training in the army.

Payday as mentioned is the 1st and 15th. However, as a new boot your husband will have expenses and be given a partial pay that will be deducted from his mid-month or in this case probably his end of month pay. Different services have different rules about pay wo you may still be in for a little bit of a wait.

Yes both are correct. the first pay check may be a little slack. Just for your info I posted a WEB page for a great bank and insurance company. with USAA it is for military only and you get you money the day before pay day and the service it out of this world with cash back and other discounts. don't take my word for it go to the web page and contact them and compare to your current insurance and bank. I tell all of my soldiers about it and I have never heard of a disappointed member.

It may have changed in the past couple of years, but when I was in Boot Camp in 1991 we got paid cash. We had to send it all home except for $20.

Hun, if your waiting on a pay check to join your Hubby. Good luck. The pay will come but you cant join him until hes done with trainning, and assigned to his permanent party. You cannot join him in basic trainning. Sorry
