I'm very fond of Newfies and actually thinking of having one. Will they be able to survive the Philippine weather? It's quite humid and temperature during summer is around 30- 33 C and during the rainy season it's around 26-30 C. Thanks.

I have Newfs and have had them for 17 years now. I live in upstate NY, and it gets kinda hot here in the summer. When it does, they suffer. They HATE the heat and humidity.
When they live in hot climates, they also look like crap since they never get a good coat. There is quite an active club in Hawaii, and the dogs look like huge overgrown Flat Coats. It is sad.
I would really NOT advise getting one in that climate.
You should NOT shave them either. The coat acts as insulation from hot and cold, so they are actually hotter when shaved. Not to mention the bug get them more and they look even worse.
Newfs are a great breed, but I would not have them either if I lived in a climate such as yours.
