You sure can. Im assuming you have a 12 gauge because that is the standard chamber size in most 12 gauges. you can shoot any lenght under the max, so yes you can shoot a 2 3/4 shell fine. some shoot 3 1/2 and they can shoot a 2 3/4 too.

Most shotguns are chambered for 3" shell, and all 2 3/4 shells can be fired through it.

Yes, but not the other way round. 3" won't go into 2 3/4" chamber.

Yes, you can fit any length shell up to your maxium, in this case case 3", into your shotgun.

Yes if the gun is made to accept that particular size of shell, but it wont work the other way around.

YES....Of course you can. They will function fine and will not damage your gun.Bolt action, Pump, Semi-Automatic shotgun...doesn't matter they will work in all of them.
