Yup, we have those too. They have kits that allow you to attach the baby gates to the stairs, but seriously it's just a piece wood with plastic ties ... we got a piece of wood and ties at home depot for $2.00.
Just make sure you get a gate that is specifically made for staircases, I think they reccommend the metal ones, that's what we have.

That's what we have going down the two steps to our den. We attached a piece of wood with those plastic zip-ties (You can get them at a hardware store) to the sides of the banister by the bottom step and we got one of those gates that just slides across. You can find them at Walmart, Target, babies r us, etc.
