Yes, depending on the state you live in.
Most states do not prohibit private gun sales.
I've bought and sold about 40 guns at gun shows, through private transactions.

`YES.... Most gun shows that I've attended or displayed at, allowed the general public to "tag" their weapons with a "For Sale" sign. As you pay your entrance fee's the show promoters will give you a plactic cable tie to hold the action open to show to all that the gun is empty. I can't speak for New York but I've never seen any show sponsor charge and additional fee to sell their gun anywhere in the U.S.. You can count on being charged a fee by the licensed FFL dealer that transfers your weapon to the new buyer . You will also be required to provide the selling dealer with your information so he/she can in turn fill out a form 4473 BATF form for the sale/transfer. Most dealers will do the cursory background check on you as well as the buyer and these costs are usually included in the dealer fee's.
Gunbroker.com is of course another option, but you should realize that you will pay a fee to list your gun, and be charged a percentage of the selling price when sold. This along with high UPS charges to ship you gun makes this an expensive way to go, and of course you will have to ship your gun to auction through a licensed FFL dealer in this case to so you wind up paying an additional fee....Something to consider

Here is what I've done on a few occasions.
Take a drinking straw and a piece of 8.5"x11" filler paper. Fold the paper in half, and on both sides write with a Sharpie Pen: FOR SALE xxxxx Model ??? in .### caliber. Staple the paper to the drinking straw, with a few inches of the straw sticking out below the paper. Insert the straw into the bore of your rifle, sling the gun over your shoulder, and start wandering the aisles.
If your price is right, and you have a desirable gun, you won't get far before you sell it.

It depends on the gun show and their restrictions. Most likely you'll have to pay a fee to advertise your gun based on the shows I've seen in NY. Its usually a couple of bucks and people put "flags" in the barrel with price/gun info.
You'll also have to finish the transaction through a federal check of the buyer, the same way a gun shop does. What kind of gun? You may want to list on www.gunbroker.com

Have sold or traded many guns at shows by just carying it over my shoulder on a sling. Yes, I have taped an 'ad' for it on my back. Heck, I've sold guns just standing in line to pay. This is Texas, btw.

YES, unless they say no.
In the south, we register the weapon for sale at the front desk. Then, funny enough, we put a sign on our back (paper and marker type) that describes the weapon and sales price. If you are asking a competitive price, you will sell the weapon.

Most places, you can. I was at a gun show, once, and overheard a guy saying he sold a gun to a guy in the parking lot.

Another choice is to allow a dealer/seller to sell your gun
on a consignment basis...he gets a fee for this.
